-Episode 4.24
Time to Lift Some Spirits
"Chuck, can you get a couple strings of lights? Alex and I got a new tree for the apartment. The string of lights from the bonsai tree is just not going to make it." Morgan was studying the tree. It just did not seem straight.
Alex moved around it. She shook her head. "It is still leaning. How exactly are you holding this up? Did you buy that Christmas tree base? You know, the one at Buy More?"
Morgan winced, "It's a couple bricks and…" He knew she was going to call him crazy again. He turned back to the phone, "Hey Chuck buddy, can you get one of those Christmas tree bases at Buy More too?"
Alex could hear Chuck's response on the speaker. "Yeah, anything else?"
Morgan looked around, "No, that's it. We're good."
Chuck responded, "Leaving the Buy More now. See you in a couple."
Alex started to get the garland out of the box. She had agreed to trim the stairs with it. But she reached into her pocket and got her phone again, "So, when did you say Dad would get back?" Alex asked.
"I guess about an hour. It should be enough time to finish trimming the tree and the apartment." Morgan put out a couple red candles with small holly rings around them.
Alex continued her line of questions, "Has he been doing better?"
Morgan shook his head as he got the stocking hangers out, "No, he has been kind of, well, I don't know. He's gone from grunting to growling at most things. And most nights it's a little Johnny and some Neil."
Alex smiled and used her phone again.
In a few minutes Chuck and Sarah were at the door. Chuck held up the box and Sarah a bag. Chuck smiled, "We got what you asked for."
Sarah went over to Alex and winked. Alex smiled.
In a few minutes they got the tree up and decorated. Morgan nodded over a cup of hot chocolate. "Everyone ready?" He flipped the lights and the tree came to life.
Casey came in the apartment next and saw everyone standing around the tree. There was a moderate growl followed by, "I said…"
Alex held up her mug, "Just a second Dad. This was just part of the surprise."
"You know I don't like…" he began and the doorbell rang.
Alex smiled, "Can you get that? We promised to have dinner with Chuck and Sarah." She started to get her coat.
Casey went to the door and opened it.
"Care for a little Johnny and Neil?" She said in a sultry voice. Gertrude smiled and waved at Alex and Sarah as they headed out the back.
