Disclaimer: I don't own anything! But then again there are no names here, so I'm not sure what I'm disclaiming!
A/N: As mentioned above no names are mentioned. However, it was written with characters in mind! Let me know who you think it's about! I'd love to know...
"Dance with me." His voice echoed through her mind. His breath on the back of her neck sending shivers down her spine.
"I don't think..." she started, forcing her mind to focus on anything except him; anything other than those eyes, that voice, those lips...
"Don't think." He whispered. Two simple words causing her focus to evaporate into complete nothingness. His fingers trailing the length of her arm to her hand, leaving goose bumps in their wake.
"One dance" And then that smile was back, "What could happen?" Even as he spoke he was leading her towards the dance floor, out of the obscurity (and safety) of the crowd.
Trouble was she knew what could happen. She could already feel it happening as she melted in to his arms, and as he closed the space between them. She could feel it happening as she tried desperately to control her erratic breathing and slow her heart rate. She could feel herself getting lost in that moment and falling deeper under his spell. She could feel herself falling in love with him.
She should gather her senses and walk away. Falling for him, was stupid and irresponsible, and should not happen. She had always sworn that she would never be the girl swooning over some boy. She was not that girl. She was just not the swooning type. She was smart and practical and...
That was before he looked at her with those eyes. Those eyes that she swore she could drown in. Those eyes that she feared she would drown in.
He was watching her. Studying her like she was some sort of grand artwork. A masterpiece on a pedestal. It unnerved her. He unnerved her. She couldn't figure it out. That was the worst part. She could figure out anything, everything. Except him. He was a problem to be solved, but the solution always eluded her.
The world seemed a million miles away now. The crowd had vanished; taking with them all the gossiping whispers and curious glances. It was just them. Alone in this moment, this dance, this song.
She looked up, meeting his gaze.
"One dance." she whispered.
Tomorrow it would all go back to normal. She would be smart and practical, and once again he would be off limits. A distant dream or some buried infatuation. But, right now, in this moment she didn't have to do the smart thing. Because maybe the smart thing wasn't always right and maybe, tonight, she could just be stupid and in love.
