Just wanted to write a different ending to Spashley. Wait, is it the ending? Or just a new beginning? Stay tuned ;)

Review please :)

Spencer sits thinking at her desk, confused about life and love. The slight breeze escaping through the loose seal around the closed window plays across her face as she sits in front of a blank page of lined paper. Dear was all she had written. Who is she writing to? Just a girl she doesn't know anymore. Too much has happened too long ago to reconcile their differences. Her high school graduation has turned into a matter of months rather than years, and friendships fade for reasons more than 'She stole my Barbie!' Back in a time when puppy love was all she had known, they were friends. 'Till the end, they said. But, she knows now that nothing lasts forever. Nothing but your feelings for that one special person you urge yourself to forget, because it'll save heartache and loneliness, but can never seem to shake. Like the stray cat that hangs around her house wanting to come inside for food and warmth, she's becoming needy. But rather than needing some food and a warm place to sleep, she needs emotional nourishment and the warmth of a loved one. A real loved one. Not her mother who is never around due to her demanding job at the hospital, or her father who spends late nights consoling teens with bigger needs than his daughter's. Of course, he doesn't know the full story.

Again, she sits at her desk, waiting for the words to flow through her and appear on the page. Dear was the only word there. Dear Ashley, she thought. It sounded nice, alright, but does it say what she wants it to say. This isn't some formal English assignment. This meant much more to her than school ever did. Ashley was gone, left her house, left L.A. Left me. Spencer pondered about this. Ashley didn't so much as tell her goodbye, let along why she was leaving or where she was going. Yes, this upset her more than a bad mark on a quiz or assignment. Her teachers will give her help to prepare for the unit test or even the chance to fix the mark. This isn't the case with Ashley. Ashley taught her more life lessons than her parents alone could have, yet she wasn't there in case Spencer did mess up and did need some support. This is her test, no studying necessary.

Dear Ashley, was how Spencer decided to start this letter to her old companion. Did she know where to send it? No. How will she know Ashley will even read it? She doesn't. The friend she once knew stood up and walked away, from everything they once had. Words of their feelings were never spoken aloud, but they didn't have to. Spencer felt the words, the thoughts, the emotions. And she had hoped Ashley felt the same; After all, the way they would smile at each other, walk down the halls together, and hang out alone everyday told her she did. Nothing ever happened sexually when they were alone together, but she couldn't ignore the spark in her eye that changed when they were thrown in the mix with other people. That spark kept Spencer alive and well, living life to the fullest, because she believed Ashley would always be living life, right by her side.
