Cameron.
Her name is on repeat in his head, along with her pretty face and brown eyes.
He lies in bed with the volume of the music so loud that he doesn't hear his mother yelling that dinner's ready. He only thinks about that girl. Cameron.

And then the dream shatters.
She saves his life and – although not literally (though he thought it was true when she fell on top of him and rolled to the side in a lifeless heap) – loses hers.

She used to be that girl. Cameron Phillips.
She asks the new weird kid his name and befriends him at his locker. Computers scare her and she's not good at that kind of stuff. She wants him to help her with that.
She wants to be around him. That's the Cameron he met.
That's the Cameron he lost.

That's what he remembers (later in 2007), every time her eyes shine blue and she fights against one of her kind. When she says I love you, John and you love me and he almost believes she means it.
When sometimes she goes blank and Cameron ceases to exist and she's just TOK-715.
