Just a short drabble I thought of and just had to write. Not much to say about it, so go forth and read.
Disclaimer: I do not, and never will, own Castle.
She exited the cab and made her way over to the building, carrying a giant bag of Chinese takeout with her. Nearing the door a smile formed on her face, which quickly turned into a grin as the doorman tipped his hat at her.
"Evening, Miss Kate. Workin' a case?" He cheerfully greeted her, opening the doors to let her through. She refused to let him call her Miss Beckett, or even Detective Beckett. If she was going to call him by his first name, she'd extend the same gesture to him. Though he did stand firm in at least continuing to use 'Miss.'
"Hey, Norm. Actually, Castle and I are having a movie night, Alexis is off on her first actual date so he begged me to come over and comfort him, he's such a softie." Norm laughed, eyes twinkling merrily, as she winked at him.
"That explains the pout when he arrived a while ago." He fake-whispered at her, smirking the whole time.
"Pout, huh? He's such a child." She chuckled and slung the bag of food over her shoulder.
"Yes, but his childish ways bring out the best in people, adds an element of fun to life, spices it up." His tone had gotten a bit more contemplative, but the familiar grin was still sitting on his face proudly as if it were a throne.
"Yes, yes they do," she looked away from Norm and up towards the windows she knew to be his, imagining what he was doing at that moment, "well, hope you have a nice night."
"You too, Miss Kate, you too." He sent one last wide grin her way before closing the door behind her and moving back into position, professional and cheery as always. Pressing the button for the tenth floor she wondered when exactly it had gotten to the point where Castle's doorman let her in without question. When she'd first established a first name basis with the man, even established a friendship with him, a man she only saw when she came to Castle's loft. When she and Castle had gotten to a point where they just hung out, no casework involved. But the thought she spent the most amount of time pondering was when she'd admitted Castle brought out the best in people, in her, not only to herself, but also to others.
Review? Pretty please?
