Part One:

The wind pushed Miguel back. He shielded his eyes with his hand and took a step backwards. He lost his balance and crashed through several wooden beams before landing hard on the ground. He smacked the back of his head and instantly lost consciousness. Up above, Evil Charity grinned. She turned from the mineshaft and walked back to camp. She saw Tabitha and Timmy and smiled.

She walked over to them and grinned evilly. "Well, our little problem has been taken care of. Permanently. So now, Charity is pure evil." Charity began to laugh, the pendant glowing in the dark night.

"Ethan, please. Please marry Gwen. It means so much to both our families if you marry Gwen," Ivy said.

Ethan was silent. He was torn between agreeing with his mother and telling her that he loved Theresa and Gwen. Ivy saw the indecision in his eyes.

She picked up his hand and began to walk away. "Ethan, do you love Theresa?"

"Yes, I do, very much. I also love Gwen."

"I thought so." Ivy stopped and hugged her son. "Ethan, dear, do whatever you want. I would like it if you married Gwen, but I know what it is like to love someone you can't have."

"What do you mean, mother?" Ethan asked.

Ivy sighed. "I never told you this, nor your father, but I was in love with someone else before I met your father."

"Who was it?" Ethan asked.

Ivy sighed and clasped both Ethan's hands in her own.

"Sam Bennett is Ethan's father?" Theresa whispered. "Well, I have to tell everyone!" she got up and raced out to the phone. She dialed the Bennetts' number. Grace picked up.

"Grace? I'm sorry to call you at this hour, but is Chief Bennett home?"

"No, I'm sorry, Theresa, he's not. Do you want to leave a message?"

"No. I'll call tomorrow."

She hung up. There was a knock at the door. Hoping it wasn't Luis; she answered the door and took a step back. It was Chief Bennett.

"Theresa, hi. Is Luis home?"

"No, I'm sorry, he's not."

"Oh, well, will you tell him is stopped by?"

"Yes, I will. Good night, Chief Bennett."

He smiled at her. "What are you holding?"

"Nothing, really," she lied.

"Really?"

"Yeah, just some stuff that my mama is doing for the Ethan/Gwen marriage tomorrow."

Even though Sam hated Ethan, he wanted to see what it was. "Can I see it?"

"No!" Theresa cried.

"Why not?" Sam asked.

Miguel woke up, confused. How did he get down here? He looked up and could make out the dim outlines of trees. He narrowed his eyes. How did he get here? He shook his head, which only made him dizzier. He placed a hand at the back of his head and shuddered when he realized the wet feeling was his own blood. He had to get out of here, and fast.

"Help!" He cried. A white shape began to glow above the trees and as it shot down to Miguel he wondered if he was seeing things. The ball turned into an angel.

"Miguel, you are in grave danger."

"Who-who are you?" Miguel asked.

"All that is good. You must save Charity, for she, too, is in grave danger."

"Who's Charity?"

The angel girl was taken aback. "Why, she is your true love, Miguel."

"I don't know anybody named Charity. And I'm not even sure that I know who Miguel is."

The angel girl glowed silently for a few moments before turning back into a glowing ball. She called on every good power in the world and shot off towards the campsite. She had to make Charity good for good.
