A/n: OMG! I've been working on this fanfiction for over a year and I can't believe I'm finally gonna post it! *insert squeal* Now, I personally don't read fanfics with an O/c, so you guys can officially call me a hypocrite. Yes, this story contains an O/c. Many O/cs, actually, in the coming series. This is actually the first one in a set of three fanfictions. Basically it's like the first book in a trilogy. This one's setting is in the original one, the second fic will be V-Force and the third will be G-Rev.

Yeahhhh... I have a long way to go :P

Anyway, here's the first chapter. Any suggestions will be helpful!

Fill The Void In My Heart

Chapter 1 – Dreams and Nightmares

"Out-of-place" would be the phrase used by the common folk, if they ever saw three children between the ages of 5 to 9 running through the forest with weapons gleaming in their hands. But then again, these were the children who chased lost voices. The eldest boy carried a sword, the second eldest girl carried a spear and the youngest girl carried a bow, but either way they all had only one mission – to hunt.

The creature they were chasing was one of the finest amateur demons of the underworld. It had wandered across the Pacific in search of a delicacy and, in the process, had stumbled upon Gondwana rainforest – the abode of demigod children.

As the dark winged creature maneuvered its way through tall trees and branches, trying to make its escape, the youngest girl in the group readied her bow and aimed an arrow at the creature. Her long wavy golden hair, which resembled the sun's rays, now flew back as she released the shot. The creature let out a piercing howl and started falling, only to land on the moist ground with a loud 'thud'.

The three youngsters stood over the body of their unconscious target, the arrow's drug putting it to a temporary slumber. The older boy turned to the yellow-haired girl with a smile. The other female repeated the same gesture as she pushed back her slightly curly red hair, which hung till her waist. She heaved a sigh. "You beat me this time but brace yourself. I'll take my revenge while training," the red head said, grinning down at her young acquaintance. "Oh, we'll see about that," replied the younger one, eagerly.

"Ok now that's enough," the boy said as he ran his fingers through his sand-colored bangs. "But well done! You're a natural. Mastered the bow in a few days, shot down a gargoyle on your very first quest! Mom would have been so proud of you. It took me ages to get used to this blade," he said, looking down at the celestial bronze sword in his right hand. The five-year-old responded with her pleasant and innocent smile.

"Well then. Let's carry this tough guy back so he can be sent to where he belongs," the nine-year-old boy added turning to the dozing gargoyle. The other females nodded in agreement. The eight-year-old girl grumbled as she wrapped the ropes around the mythical creature's foot. Simple mortals called such creatures a work of fantasy. Of course, they couldn't see beyond the mist, but for demigods this was horrifying reality.

The three then started dragging the creature back to their base, and the youngest girl looked back at the faceless figures of the two people she trusted the most.

Miyoko woke up with a start. It took her a moment to realize where she truly was. Then it came back to her, that the place was called Balcov Abbey and that she was one of the Demolition Boys (even though she was a girl).

She glanced at the digital clock kept on the table by her bedside. "6:10 am" the fluorescent digits read. 'Might as well get some training done,' she thought as she slid out of her covers. It wasn't like she could expect any comfort from the iron bed stand anyway, and the constant nightmares always got the better of her.

Unfinished dreams started making their way to her since the beginning of that month. And this one was no exception. They all illustrated different scenes, but two things remained constant – the fact that she was a five-year-old and that everyone around her had blank faces.

Having blank looks was one thing, which Miyoko had witnessed enough on most children's faces within the walls of the Abbey, but a blank face was one that could only be seen in her dreams. Where there should have been eyes, eyebrows or even a nose, there was nothing. Only a mouth as a souce of the voices, and she sometimes wondered if it was a trick of her brain. Even though most dreams had been bizarre, they felt oddly realistic.

Miyoko freshened up and took a quick shower. She slipped on her clothes and fetched her id card from a drawer. As Miyoko sat on the edge of her bed to put on her shoes, she thought about the sandy-haired boy she had often seen in her dreams. Although she wasn't allowed to venture out of the Abbey, the feeling of familiarity kept pestering her. She was sure she had seen him somewhere.

'That can't be,' Miyoko told herself, 'if he was from the Abbey I would have stumbled upon him on more than just one occasion in one of the hallways. Or he might have made it out of here… in one of those body bags,' she grimly reminded herself.

She sighed as she straightened her red-collared shirt printed with golden vines with long sleeves. She pulled up her black jeans and checked whether her pendant was still hung around her neck. The shape of the small golden phoenix feather between her fingers reassured her of its presence. She would always wear it and never let anyone touch it because, after all, it was the only thing that kept her sane and reminded her of him. A friend that died protecting her and the others.

'Even though it has been six years…' she thought to herself as tears filled her eyes. She quickly wiped them away. She would never let anyone else see that sign of weakness. It was also strictly against the Abbey's law, an offence which came at a fine of 50 whippings.

She then scanned the room for her partner. She saw her lying on the bed-side table. "It's time for training Drazzilia," Miyoko whispered, as she looked into the bit-chip of her dearest partner Drazzilia- a beautiful orange and pink phoenix, with few golden feathers that resembled her own long and wavy hair and sharp yellow eyes that resembled his bit-beast's own.

With different thoughts regarding her training clouding her mind, Miyoko head towards the front door and looked back at the tiny box-like structure, which was supposed to be her "room". She sighed as she got out and shut the door behind her. Although she didn't have to share the "room" with any boy, she sometimes wished there was someone to keep her company besides Drazzilia. Being the only girl in the Abbey wasn't easy.

Miyoko showed her ID card to the hooded figure that stood outside the dimly-lit training hall. "Early today, aren't we?" he said, handing Miyoko her card after verifying her identity. She eyed the guard suspiciously. Few of them had loosened up quite a bit ever since the Director had left for a meeting with one of the funders of the Abbey. Even a slight display of positive emotion could get them executed. But then again, there were a handful of soldiers that weren't loyal to their demon of a Director.

"Hmm. Couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd might as well prepare for the world championships. After all losing isn't an option," she replied as she stuffed the card back into her pocket and gripped Drazzilia in her hand. "That's fine. At least he won't be alone now," the guard said. "Who?" Miyoko asked, turning to look at the man. "Master Tala," the man said, his voice lowering a decibel in reverence.

Sure enough as Miyoko entered the training room she saw the Demolition Boys' captain standing in front of a rather big pile of rubble, inspecting his precious Beyblade; Wolborg – a rather good-looking snow wolf with mesmerizing sea-green eyes. If she thought 7:00am was too early for practice, she wondered how long her teammate had been training.

He turned to see Miyoko walking through the main door of the training room. He had fiery red hair, two strands of which hung in front of his icy blue eyes. He wore a long-sleeved shirt which had the colors of the Russian flag (orange instead of red) along with identical trousers which were held by a gray belt.

His features softened as his teammate walked up to him with a flicker of a smile on her face. "Someone's up early," he mocked. "And what about you?" Miyoko asked in response. "Nightmares." Miyoko nodded. That one word was enough to sum up their reasons to be up and about even before the break of dawn. "About him, right?" she asked sympathetically. The red-head nodded in response. The gold-haired girl placed her hand on her captain's shoulder. "It wasn't your fault. Don't worry, it'll be fine," she said soothingly. The leader returned a smile, but Miyoko could still see a hint of sadness in his eyes.

Tala heaved a sigh. "Let's get started then. The tournament's 'round the corner, and Sir is coming back today. We can't afford to lose," he said. "I know," Miyoko replied. The two teammates took their positions on either side of the beydish and began their training regime. "Three... two... one... Let it rip!" they said together. With that, Drazzilia and Wolborg were launched into the dish and Miyoko forcefully shoved aside all memories of her reason to live - Kai Hiwatari.
