((This is something I'll be doing between writing other stories when I want to take a break and write about something else, so it probably won't be updated as frequently as my other stories. Before you start reading, please take a look at this to clear up any confusion.
This story does not take place during any canon game, it happens sometime between Twilight Princess and Four Swords Adventures in the Child Timeline, and the world is that of TP Hyrule with some new and changed locations. All main characters will either be OC's or reincarnations of canon characters, though some minor characters will be canon characters. Anyway, let us get started!))

A single figure, slim and shining green, stood in front of a single golden triangle. Two other figures, one of red and one a bright blue stood behind her. The blue one, Nayru stepped forward. "Farore, are you sure this is wise, to pick one who will go through such turmoil?"
Farore did not turn to look at her sister, staring straight at the triangle. "You question my choice, even though I know exactly what is best. For this battle, we need a hero who is different then the ones who came before." Din, the final Goddess nodded. "I agree." Nayru nodded after her sister. "I agree." With her sisters blessings, Farore pressed her palm to the golden triangle, and it faded away into nothing.
At that moment, a baby was born. Still wet and screaming from the birth, a golden light enveloped the child for a second before quickly fading.
17 Years Later
A young girl leaned against a wooden post on the edge of a large garden in the newly established Faron Village. She was short for her age but muscular, her clothes and skin sweaty and dirty, charcoal hair tangled and messy from working all day. Her brown eyes scanned the area like a hawk looking for its prey. "Locke-Goro!" A young Goron ran up to her. "Nina-Goro is worried about Old Papa and Tobi-Goro, are you worried too?" Locke nodded. "Yes."
Nina and Old Grey were her adopted parents, while their children Tobi and Mikara were her adopted siblings along with Oris the Goron. After her mother died and her father left her for who knows where, she was raised by her Aunt until she too died when Locke was 12. Shortly after, Nina and Old Grey took her in. It had been so hard for her to loose her family, but Locke learned to live with it and move on. Sure, Nina and Old Grey's family weren't her real family, but she loved them just as dearly.
As for her personal life, Nina wanted her to work at the house, while Old Grey wanted her to become a town guard, so she spent half her time training with Tobi and the other half working on the house. But really, Locke wanted to go adventure and see all the places that her Aunt had told her about when she was young. She had decided she would when she turned 18, and that was coming up soon.
Her thoughts were interrupted by someone crashing into the clearing of the village. "Tobi-Goro!" Oris shouted, running to Tobi as Locke sprinted behind him. A few other villagers had come up, asking what happened. "Lizalfos... they attacked... Dad.. still fighting.." Tobi panted, eyes fearful. Locke stared at him for a moment before sprinting off with determination in her eyes. "Locke, wait! It's too dangerous!" Several of the villagers called to her, but she ignored them and ran ahead.
When she reached the clearing, it was a mess. One Lizalfos lay dead on the ground, while the other clawed fervently at a tree where Old Grey clung for dear life. Locke's eyes fell on something laying on the ground. 'Old Grey's sword!' She sprinted forward and grabbed it, dashing forward and slashing at the Lizalfos's back. The lizard screeched and turned around, whipping its claws at her which she deflected with the blade. "L-Locke!?" She heard Old Grey cry in disbelief from up the tree.
The Lizalfos sliced its claws furiously at her, Locke had to keep jumping backwards trying to get to its side where she could safely deliver a blow. Flipping around, the lizard raised its claws to slash at her, and she instinctively held up the blade to defend. But it grew smart and grabbed the blade, causing a battle of strength to regain the blade. Locke shoved her foot at the lizard's knee causing it to stumble, giving her time to free herself, but the Lizalfos had a firm grip on the blade and held onto it when she broke free.
Not knowing how to use a sword, it threw it at a tree trunk where it stuck in the wood like an arrow. Locke ran forward to grab it, only for the Lizalfos to slam her in the tree. She yelped in pain from the impact, and the beast dug its claws into her shoulder. In defiance she shot her free arm out and wrapped her hand partway around its throat, trying to choke it. The Lizalfos loosened its grip enough for her to regain use of her other arm, and she began to squeeze tightly. Suddenly, an arrow shot through its heart and it fell to the ground. Locke turned to see Old Grey holding his now empty bow.
"Locke child, what are you doing here!?" He ran up to her, worried. "Saving your life." She retorted, rubbing her bleeding shoulder. "It's much too dangerous for you to be out here child!" He exclaimed, now annoyed. "I'm nearly 18." She growled.
Old Grey sighed. "I sometimes forget how grown you are. Thank you for saving me." He hugged her, careful of her wounded shoulder. "Lets get back and we'll both get patched up. This will make quite the story, huh?" Locke smiled and nodded in agreement, grabbing the sword out of the wood with her good arm and walking back with Old Grey.
"Locke, Grey dear!" Nina along with many villagers ran up to them as they entered the village. Nina hugged them both tightly, causing them both to wince in pain. "What happened to you! Get inside right away!" Nina began to lead the two of them inside. "You should have seen her dear, she took out a Lizalfos like it was nothing!" Locke smiled. 'There goes Old Grey, boasting as if I was his own daughter.'
As Nina and Mikara bandaged her and Old Grey, Tobi and especially Oris pestered them for all the juicy details. Tobi was admittedly jealous of Locke, while Oris was enthralled by the tale. When things went quiet, Locke spoke. "What happened today woke me up. I decided. I'm leaving tomorrow to go on a journey." The others stared at her, Oris was the first one to speak. "Can I come?" "No you cannot! Neither of you are going anywhere!" Nina snapped. Old Grey rested his hand on Nina's shoulder. "Nina dear. The way Locke fought today... I could see a passion in her eyes I've never seen before. This is what she longs to do. Don't try and stop a dream."
Nina slowly nodded. "Your right.. I won't stop you." She silently walked away, leaving the rest of the family in silence. It was a few moments before Old Grey nudged her to stand up and follow. Locke did so, opening the door to the master bedroom. Nina was standing in front of a box on the bed, holding a pile of fabric. "This was meant for the neighbor boy Andy, his 17th birthday outfit. I'll just make another one, it's the only one that will fit you." Nina turned around and handed it to her, it was a hero's tunic, given to boys when they turn 17."But I'm not-" Locke stammered.
"I know your not a boy. But I think it's fitting." Nina smiled, tears in her eyes. Locke threw her arms around Nina, hugging her tightly. "Thank you." She whispered, breaking the hug. "Put that in your room. We'll eat and get you packed for tomorrow." Nina instructed. Locke nodded, running to her room. 'Tomorrow, my life begins!' Locke smiled as she set the tunic on her bed. It was the start of a grand adventure.
(( I tried really hard to make Locke not just a genderbend of Link, but not so different that it wouldn't make sense for her to be the heroine. But please, let me know what you think of her. I didn't get to show off her personality much, hopefully I can in the next chapter. Just warning you, with what I have in mind it's going to take a while for the plot to come together.))
