For The Golden Snitch's Scavenger Hunt: Easter Egg Hunt!
Clue one: We've all been sorted into our schools and houses. I wonder, however, what happened when these two identical pranksters were sorted?
George waits, smiling, as Fred walks to the Hat. He looks back at Fred just before the Professor puts the Hat over his head, the nerves are gone and he shows his twin brother only the encouragement he needs.
In that, they are certain of their purpose. Fred is the inspiration, George is the motivation. George likes it.
Then he sees Fred's subtle smirk. He tries to reach his eyes but the big hat is covering them and George doesn't know what is going on. Maybe the Hat is trying to sway his brother from being a Gryffindor! What will happen if Fred doesn't go with George to Gryffindor?
And it's a certain thing that George is a Gryffindor, but he's hard–working, that's a given. Maybe he will be the one to abandon Fred and go to Hufflepuff. He's a loyal boy, and a quick glance to the easy smiles showing around in the Hufflepuff table tells him it would be a good fit for him.
George can't be without Fred! He is happy because he's with Fred; he smiles when he's with Fred and he pushes himself forward when he's with Fred. Co–dependent? Maybe! But they are more than that.
That's when the Hat yells a loud Gryffindor.
George looks over at Fred, who struts confidently down the stairs until he's at Charlie's side and sits there, looking so normal in the Gryffindor's table that there's no doubt that Fred belongs there, but what about George?
They call his name and he walks to the Hat. He feels more nervous than how Fred looked and maybe that's a sign that Gryffindor is not for him. George looks back and sees Fred's smile, and he's suddenly struck with awe and love and he won't let down his brother.
Though, to be fair, George knows Fred will love him even if he's a Slytherin.
So, he isn't worried at all when the Professor puts the Hat over his head.
Another Weasley? So soon after the last one?
George giggles. We're twins. Two people, one soul, they say.
You are so different; it isn't possible you are the same soul, the Hat replies.
George is silent. Will the Hat send him somewhere else?
We might be different, but we like to be together. So, I want to be a Gryffindor.
You could be great in Hufflepuff, the Hat adds, trying to negotiate. You are all Helga wanted.
Am I not what Godric wanted?George asks and he thinks of everything courageous he's done, from blaming himself when Percy burns the bathroom for trying a new potion in secret to the time when he defends little Luna Lovegood from the muggle kids that live in the nearby village. He is sure he's courageous and strong and chivalrous.
Finally, he thinks of Fred and that seals it.
I already am a Gryffindor, sir Hat. You can't send me anywhere else because I will go and sit with my brothers even if you say I'm a Slytherin, he says firmly.
And cause a scandal?
I bet Fred would think it a great prank.
The Hat laughs. You are right. You are what Godric wanted, but don't forget you're your own person.
Then, the Hat says Gryffindor! in a loud voice for everyone to hear.
He looks at Fred as soon as the Hat is out of his eyes and he's proud.
