Just a little friendship drabble based off the lovely preview for the upcoming season! Thought i'd getting my writing fingers back...
"He told me to keep an eye on you."
"Let me know if I can help you with that."
Alex and Bobby walked back out to the car at the end of the day. "I don't think the new captain likes you," she joked as she navigated through traffic.
He smiled back. They both knew that this was something that the new captain could never find out about. Ross would flip his lid if he ever found out. He would never believe that there wasn't more to it. He'd immediately assume they were sleeping together and have them split up faster that he could say boo.
"When's your next date with Joe?" he asked.
She laughed slightly, paused, and then said, "I don't think we're gonna go out again," she said, tucking her hair behind her ear. She turned onto the next street. "Too clingy…he's a total nut."
"I thought that was a requirement for you," he jibed.
"Not every man I interact with needs to be a raving lunatic."
He held up his hands in non-offense and unbuckled his seat belt as she pulled into the parking spot in the alley behind the apartment building.
They both got our, climbed the 3 flights of stairs to the top floor, and Alex stopped at her apartment door. "See you in the morning," she said, pulling out her keys and unlocking her door. Bobby walked past her to the apartment next door and pulled out his keys as well.
"Night."
And they both stepped inside their neighboring apartments. It had been like this for years. They never once had dinner with each other outside of work. They never once thought it might go farther than partners. They lead separate lives…they just... kept an eye on each other…
