Sin and Mirrors

Chapter 1: Anniversary

Sakura

"Kya!"

My body was slammed against the tree and I was painfully winded and pinned against it.

"Damn it"

"Hey ugly. You never lose your concentration." And Sai let me go.

"Shut up."

"Whatever, I think you should reserve your energy. Don't want you passing out on our mission tomorrow."

I nodded and headed back towards home. I immediately slammed the door open and closed it carefully so that I wouldn't break it. I head towards the bathroom, ran a bath and sank into the warm water. I was feeling so much better already.

Damn that Tsunade. She knew what day it was tomorrow and gave me a stupid mission. I sighed and sank deeper into the water. I have a bad feeling about tomorrow.

The next day

I woke up early and was glad that I didn't kill another one of my alarm clocks; I have a whole cupboard stocked with them (thanks Shizune, my best birthday present.) I took a quick shower and leapt out quickly knowing that I would have to pack my bag today.

I dressed in new attire, each year this same day I would change my outfit so that I would be able to not so painfully erase my previous look. A new jutsu, a new outfit, a new hairstyle and a slightly different face. Of course my trademark violent personality doesn't change.

My hair was long and left out during the past year so today I pulled it up and clipped it like a bun/high ponytail and placed the head protector on my head as my usual headband. My emerald eyes shone as I curled my eyelashes and applied light eye shadow, now that's new. For my lips and lightly applied some lip gloss. Perfect.

My outfit? Ah. I wore black shorts with fishnet leggings and a red tube top with the Haruno symbol on the back. All of my weapons/ basic medical supplies were strapped to my cream coloured belt and there was a medium sized scroll on my back with all the medical supplies that I would need and then I headed towards painful memories.

The bench

I was way early. I needed time alone, my heart hurt like hell, like it was being ripped to shreds as I lay down on the cold stone bench. I felt warm tears rolling down my face, I tried so hard to forget.

"Damn it Sasuke." I cursed "Am I not good enough. Why did you leave me here? Why didn't you take me with you? I feel so alone..."

"DAMN IT SASUKE. YOU FRIGIN TEME!" and the tears just wouldn't stop coming.

What did I do to deserve this?

Gates

I stood there waiting. My face erased of any traces of me crying and I waited silently for the others to arrive.

"Morning ugly."

"Morning jerk."

"Hey dickless!" Sai called out to the orange dot on the horizon.

"Naruto! Pick up the pace!"

"Hey Sakura-chan! You look beautiful today!" he said when he finally got there and a friendly smile. We both tried to forget what happened a few years ago.

"Thanks Naruto, let's get going!"

And so we headed out towards one of Orochimaru's hide outs. Perfect mission for this crap anniversary.
