"Not again!" Boris punched the wall of the prison cell. "Every time we try to take over the world we fail!"
"Balkov, care to shut up?" Voltaire glared at Boris. "We're not going to succeed. We might as well give up on world domination." He sighed. "We need to be normal."
Boris stared at Voltaire. "I guess you're correct. We should try that for once."
"So..." Boris scratched his chin. "The way we can start being approachable normal people is... smile?" Both Boris and Voltaire grimaced. "You do it first!" They both pointed at each other.
Voltaire looked away distastefully. "I'll do it. Right. I can do everything. I am Boris Balkov." Boris stuck his nose in the air. "Watch, and learn."
Boris comically tried to attempt a smile. It resulted as something between a frown and a sneer. "How's that?"
"Pathetic. Plainly pathetic."
"Yeah? Try it yourself."
Voltaire's face remained pretty much emotionless for some time. Then, he tried a smile. Boris burst out laughing.
"I've never seen something as hilarious or amusing as this my entire life." "And I've never been so humiliated my entire life." Voltaire said through gritted teeth and a very red face.
The guard outside the door started laughing, catching the two prisoners' attention. "What on earth did you find so funny?" Voltaire barked.
The guard tried to control his laughter, but in vain. "Your attempt at a smile, it more resembled a scowl!" Boris, too, joined in the laughing.
"I can't believe this," the guard said, wiping away his tears of laughter. "I could actually get you out of here."
"Ha, don't you think in the slightest we could be faking?" Boris asked, clearly intrigued. "Nope," the guard said, a silly grin plastered on his face. "Voltaire Hiwatari... smiling? This should be in the headlines. I'm touched, pal." The guard thumped fists with Boris.
Voltaire barely managed to stop himself from sending a powerful blow to the two laughing mens' stomach. 'I'm going to kill them.'
