A/N: This is for the One Word Challenge on HPFC. I was given one word and that could be the only dialogue for the entire story. My word was 'write.'
I was drunk, I had to piss and I couldn't find the bathroom. I walked through James' house, opening every door, until I found a room with a toilet. I relieved myself and went in search of James and Lily to say good-bye.
I found Lily in the kitchen and she directed me to James after a quick hug. When I reached James, he was in the middle of telling a tale from his quidditch days and just nodded to me as I waved farewell.
I apparated home and ran to the bathroom to upchuck from the sensation of apparating and drinking. I washed out my mouth before falling into my bed, fully dressed, and passed out. I awoke to the sound of curtains being pushed aside and an annoyingly cheerful Sirius Black.
I shielded my eyes and rolled over with a groan, but Sirius would have nothing of the sort and dragged me out of bed by my feet. I growled at him as I hit the floor and when I turned to yell at him, I found a scraggly, black dog looking at me pleadingly.
It wasn't fair, he knew it wasn't, but he always used the adorable puppy eyes so he could win. I struggled back to the bathroom and searched around for a vial of hangover draught before draining it. I walked into the main living area, smelled bacon and ran into the kitchen to find Sirius cooking.
I suddenly remembered why I agreed to him as a roommate; he was annoying most of the time, but he could cook. I saw a stack of pancakes, bacon and eggs on a plate at my seat at the table and went to work as my stomach loudly protested its lack of food.
When I finally couldn't eat anymore, I started washing the dishes by hand. As I was scrubbing the grease from the bacon pan, I felt Sirius put his arms around me before squeezing me tightly. I sounded my protest, but all he did was turn me around.
The bear hugs were something I'd come to expect from my friend, but then he looked at me funnily before gently pressing his lips to mine. I stood there in shock and didn't respond. He tried for a moment longer before running from the room.
I didn't move for a moment longer before I apparated out of our apartment into a small park across town. I walked slowly around the lake, all the while thinking about little things Sirius had done to hint at his feelings for me.
He had always looked out for me more than James or Peter, but I'd always thought it was because I was a wolf. Opening the door for me, the bear hugs, even his cooking… And I'd never noticed any of it until now… I wasn't gay, I was sure about that, but I didn't know how to let Sirius down easily.
I walked around the lake a few times until I decided that leaving was the only good option. I walked back home as I thought of where I would go, but I couldn't decide. I opened the door, praying Sirius wasn't home, and found the apartment empty.
I walked into my room and dragged out my trunk from Hogwarts. I slowly started to pack everything I owned and was just finishing when I heard the door open and close. I shut and locked my trunk and turned to leave, but I found the doorway blocked by a tearful Sirius.
"Write?" He begged me as I tried to squeeze past him.
I shook my head and walked out the door.
A/N2: I wasn't too happy with the ending, but how did you like it?
