A peaceful silence had fallen upon Jay and Nya like a blanket as the sat together on the sofa. Neither of them spoke, they were too happy in each other's company, too stunned about what had happened, and just too tired.
''Today was crazy,'' said Nya finally.
Jay rested his head on her shoulder. ''I know.'' he sighed wistfully. ''It wasn't all bad though,''
Nya knew what he was talking about, and took the ying and yang symbol from around her neck. She had put it on a necklace chain so she could wear it all the time.
''I still can't believe it,'' she said happily, turning it over in her hand, and smiling up at her fiance.
Smiling too, Jay squeezed her shoulder. ''I can't believe it either. Everytime I tried to ask you I kept getting interupted - I thought I'd never be able to.''
The rest of the gang had gone to bed, but Jay and Nya wanted to spend as much time together as possible. Kai was eager to talk to Jay about his proposal and was torn between giving Jay his blessing and laying down his terms and conditions; so Cole had to physically drag him away from the sitting room to give the couple a bit of privacy.
Perhaps they were thinking about this now, because Jay looked up at the living room door before kissing Nya. His lips felt like velvet.
''I love you, Sparky.'' she said quietly after they had broken apart, tracing her finger along his jawline.
Jay thought about this for a moment. ''Saying I love you, Nya, would be like saying Jupiter is bigger than a pea-''
Nya looked at him quizzically, unsure where he was going with it.
''-It's true, but there is so much more to it than that.''
There was a pause while Nya didn't really know how to answer.
''I don't deserve someone like you.'' she said finally, laying her head on his shoulder. ''How do you put up with me?''
''I'm just so incredibly skilled at everything that I suppose I just... can. It's hard work though.''
Nya snorted and punched him on the arm playfully. ''You're very modest too.''
Yawning, Jay lay back on the sofa. ''I can't even come up with a witty response.''
''Wow. You must be tired,'' she joked, lying down next to him with her arms around him.
Jay kissed her head, and closed his eyes.
