Terminator on the Planet of the Apes

Just had a thought a while ago... what if Skynet had inadvertently sent a T-800 Model 101 a couple of thousand years forward to a different Earth? This is just a little scene I had in my head and thought I'd jot it down.

"You bloody bastard!"
With these words a dying Taylor pushed down the lever on the Alpha Omega's control panel deep in the heart of the mutant church.
A rumble sounded as the chain reaction began and the bomb exploded, sending a wave of searing plasma surged out from the old city
The atmosphere caught fire as Hell began to rain down upon the doomed Earth.

The Terminator looked up at the flash.

He knew nothing would survive the blast wave.

He moved quickly, faster than any other living thing. Scanning the landscape he found what he was looking for, a cave, leading deep into the mountain. Going in as far as he could, he waited for the inevitable to happen.

The blast wave surged past, incinerating everything in its path.

Eventually he made his way out of the cave, fourteen hours, twelve minutes and nine seconds after seeing the initial flash.

Already he could feel his endoskeleton shed its organic layers, as they began to sicken and die, sloughing off to reveal the shining metal within.

+++RADIOACTIVITY BEYOND BIOLOGICAL TOLERANCE+++

Everywhere he looked he saw charred remains of trees, forests, villages, communities. Human and Simian skeletons lay where they fell, cracked bones coated with a layer of melted flesh. What Skynet had failed to do, Humanity had achieved by itself.

Shedding the last remains of his flesh, The Terminator headed towards the sunset in a seared and blackened sky.

Finally, the machines had inherited the Earth.
