Don't own it, unfortunately. Intro is rated K, but the next chapter will certainly be M.

Jennifer glanced at a little blonde girl sitting alone on one end of the teeter-totter. Her hair was unruly in the breeze of the autumn day, and the wisps of hair surrounding her forehead made a tiny Jennifer giggle.

She'd been sitting on an idle swing, an open invitation for the little girl to come talk to her. Jennifer had tried talking aloud to the pink and purple unicorn in her little hand, holding it up in the autumn sunlight to show its true majesty, and she had even tried getting the girl's attention by singing the song from "The Sound of Music" that her mother had taught her. But nothing made the girl look her way.

So with a huff, Jennifer hopped down from her swing and set out through the yellow and orange sea of unkempt playground.

Without introduction, she mounted the middle of the seesaw and shimmied up the pole to the raised seat. "I'm Jennifer," she said shakily as the seats balanced out and she nearly lost her balance.

"Careful," the girl said quietly.

Jennifer balanced herself and grabbed onto the cold metal handle, and propelled herself from the ground. "What's your name?" she asked.

The little blonde girl looked at her cautiously. "Um, Anita."

" 'Nita," Jennifer said. As if trying the names on in her mouth, somehow knowing she'd be saying them the rest of her life, "Needa… Need… Needy."

"Needy," the little blonde repeated slowly.

Jennifer bounced from the ground again. "Yeah, so where do you live? I'm five. How old are you? Do you like my unicorn? Her name…"

And little Needy did not get another word. Instead, she listened intently and smiled at her new friend. And she was perfectly content to do so.
