Pamela Landy shoved her hands in her jacket pocket. Nikki had been taken by Jason Bourne four hours ago. Why couldn't her men search for the girl? Why did she have to? She pushed between a crowd of people waiting for the subway. She tucked her auburn hair behind her ear. She wondered what Abbott would say when he found out about this, the fact that she was searching for the girl alone.
Pam was terrified that she might be dead. She would never be able to forgive herself if that was the case. Tears welled up in the back of her eyes. She sat down on a bench for a moment, squeezing her eyes shut in frustration.
No, Pam. You have to find her. You have to find her! She thought. She let a single tear slip down her cheek. She stood up.
She saw a few rooms off the side of the walls. She opened a few of them. She checked about fourteen, all were empty. She had given up hope when she reached the last, but opened it anyway.
Pam peered around the corner, and let out a sigh of relief when she saw Nikki's frail form huddled against the wall. She rushed over to her, pushing her hair out of her face. Nikki's eyes were closed. Pam felt her pulse, she was still alive.
She placed a hand on Nikki's shoulder, and shook her gently. Nikki didn't respond. She shook a bit harder. Nikki's eyes flew open, the first thought in her head was of Jason pressing the gun to her temple screaming. Tears poured down her cheeks. "NO! LEAVE ME ALONE! STOP IT! NO!" she screamed. Her eyes were blurry, and they cleared. She saw Pam there, but she didn't care. She struggled and screamed.
"Calm down Nikki! Calm down!" Pam yelled. Nikki just kept resisting. Pam grabbed her shoulders and shook her. Not the best thing to do.
Nikki started pushing her hands away, screaming loud, "ПОМОЩЬ! КТО-ТО УГОЖДАЕТ ПОМОГАЕТ МНЕ!" (AN: Russian for: HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!"
"STOP IT! STOP!" Pam shouted. Nikki kept yelling. Not knowing what else to do, Pam reached across and backhanded her, twice. All was silent. Nikki clutched her cheek, tears spilling over her eyes. Pam put her hand to her mouth. She had never done anything like that before.
"I'm-' she started, but Nikki let out a little sob. "I don't know anything" she whimpered. Pam's eyes were full of pity, as she pulled the girl into a hug. Nikki buried her face in Pam's shoulder, crying hard. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I couldn't get you any information!" she sobbed.
Pam stroked her hair. "It's okay. It's okay. I should of never put you at that risk."
Nikki pulled away, and looked at her. "You didn't do anything. You wanted to find out about Bourne."
"Yes, I did. I used you for my wishes, I was selfish."
Nikki laid her head on the older woman's shoulder. "No, you weren't. He wouldn't ever kill me. Why would I think that?! I was so scared……" she began to cry again, and Pam just sat there, holding her.
"It's going to be okay now" she whispered, "I hope."
