These are all drabbles that were entered in the Goldenlake boards that I thought I would post here for fun. Enjoy ^^

Drabble #1

Title: Shadows
Prompt: Villains
Word Count: 213
Summary: Future Tortallan historians looking back at Kel's defeat of Blayce

From the moment history was made, people lost their sight. Lies blinded them, obscuring perception with a fragile veil. Stories were left untold and replaced by evidence. Moments were disconnected from time, people plucked from memory. Events stained with gossip and dyed by untruths. People forgot. This made them lose themselves. This made the world shift.

The story tells us that they saved everyone who mattered: children, mothers, and the do-gooders. The story tells us that they rid the world of a nightmare and his dog. Evidence presents us with the people they killed, their plots now lying outside rotten castles and hidden deep in forests. Events took place that now have no memory. Bones with no flesh. They tell us half a story. Give us a missing picture, like a man with no shadow.

We were supposed to think that everything was necessary: drugging the soldiers , lighting up the castle -all those priceless artifacts!-, and killing those who fought because they were told to. We half remember these accomplishments now, but the bones are compelling and we put it from our minds. Heroes turn to villains, villains are found innocent. For why be called guilty when no one remembers what they did or who they were?

The shadows always catch up.

Drabble #2

Title: Flames
Prompt: Switch
Word Count:
187
Summary: Roger takes over with the Dominion Jewel. Thom is a knight.

Explosions thundered in the blaze- one, two, another. Ducking jets of blue fire, Thom watched, fascinated, bewildered, the flames and spirals of smoke. As he stood the fire expanded and turned into a searing wall of flames.

Stunned, Thom calculated that the cause was lost. Roger had never meant for the world to live. He rushed to his room, seized his pack and belongings, and scrambled for the door. No one was there to stop him- everyone was trying to stop Roger.

All I wanted, Thom excused himself, was to bring the world knowledge by giving Roger the Dominion Jewel. There was no need to be ashamed.

He turned a blind corner, and another, and another, until he was near enough to hear the roar of flames above the screams. Everyone had truly been taken by surprise.

A fireball ran towards him. It was screaming. Thom sprung away from it, into the arms of another man. Alex.

His face was sickeningly pale. "Every thing's gone wrong. We've got to run."

Thom nodded. There was nothing left for them here.

Drabble #3

Prompt: Numbers
Word Count: 29

For four years Alex was confined to the palace and its rooms. But Roger gave him another realm to inhabit, as big as Tortall and as expansive as time.
