Yes, it seems kinda angsty, but what do ya expect? It'll get better later on.

I do not own Fullmetal Alchemist, but I do own this plot, and any other OC characters I add.

The girl's empty, unseeing eyes seemed to stare past her tormentor. Seeing nothing, hoping for nothing, utterly defeated and broken. She was an empty shell, her spirit had fled long ago. At least, that's what they thought. Her childlike innocence had come and gone, leaving a mindless animal behind. She snarled, her teeth bared, glaring at the intruder, daring him to inflict the pain that was sure to come.

"Is experiment 429 ready for The Procedure?" a voice asked.

"I believe so General. Surely having been raised in the environment will allow less time for Conditioning afterward." another voice answered.

That was her tormentor's voice. He liked to poke her with hot rods, and beat her till she fell, no longer able to stand. Then he would stick something sharp in her skin and leave. She always felt an immense amount of relief when he was gone.

"Perhaps submitting a 9 year-old to The Procedure is a mistake." the first voice continued.

Hah, she thought, like you care. You just want another test subject, so your finished model will be perfect.

"Only time will tell, sir. It's too late to stop it. If we do, she'll die." She couldn't see his face, but she could imagine the sick smile spreading across it.

"Of course," the man intoned, "Good day, doctor." Eventually his footsteps faded away, clicking on the cement.

A doctor, she thought, amused. That's what they would call him. Never a monster. Never evil.

The doors to her imprisonment opened with a dull clank. Her tormentor walked in. Once again she fought her fear, schooling her features into a blank mask. She sat quietly as he neared, knowing there was no escape. He stuck her with something sharp again, and her mind begin to float, thoughts no longer coherent. They loaded her onto something metal, and began wheeling her away. They dumped her on cold ground again. A bright light suddenly shone, and the last thing she felt before her vision went black, was pain.
