A/N
Okay, I am having some sort of weird obsession with rain. Deal with it.
Gwen stood in the rain, her figure already soaked through. Lightning illuminated the sky. Cardiff was deserted, but Gwen still waited.
He said he'd come.
It's been two hours since he was supposed be here, but she won't move. He promised he'd come, and she believed him.
So she waited.
There's a reason, she believes. A reason he didn't come, a reason she isn't in his arms. She wraps her arms around her chest tighter. She wishes she brought a jacket; though she didn't know she'd be here in the rain, alone.
Gwen closes her eyes against the fierce bay wind and imagines his arms around her. Of course, it isn't long before the cold wakes her daydream.
If there weren't clouds covering the sun, it would be twilight. That had been his favorite time of day. He said was the end of something old and the start of something new. Gwen wonders if she is the something old. Is she the end of something? No, no of course not. She doesn't think she could take the pain if she was.
Perhaps this was a definition of their relationship. Perhaps she was nothing to him. She hopes not. She invested everything in him, her heart, her soul. She trusted him to be here for her when she needed him.
But right now, she was scared. Scared that he wasn't coming. Scared that she would lose. Lose him, lose herself. She doesn't want that. But it's too late to stop her from falling, she's already fell. Fell in love. Fell away from life.
The rain pushes down harder, and she closes her eyes, waiting. Waiting for Jack. Times passes, and here she is.
Standing alone in the rain.
