Why the wind blows at his back.
So I read a story called "Swimming isn't such a Great Idea" by SlaughterOtter and it gave me this awesome idea for a one shot. Hope you guys like it!
It was always there. He didn't know why or how but it was always there. Helping him fly, playfully ruffling his hair, and always embracing him. The wind was his constant companion.
Though there was somethings he didn't know about the wind. About why it howled, or was sometimes as soft as a sigh.
He didn't know that the same day he became Jack Frost, that his sister had become the wind.
When her dear older brother had died that day she had cried and howled louder than the wind. The wind took pity on her and asked the girl if there was anything it could do to help her.
She told the wind that all she wanted was her brother back. The wind, being old and wise as he was, told her that he couldn't bring him back but he could take her to someone who could take her to him. She agreed eagerly.
The wind gently cradled the girl in his arms and flew her to the Man in the Moon. The Man in the Moon explained to the girl what was to happen. She was proud that he would one day become a great and powerful Guardian but sad that she wouldn't be able to see him again. She began to cry once more. The Man in the Moon, being a Guardian of children himself, offered her a way to always be with her brother.
He told her that Jack would always need someone to be beside him, even if he couldn't see them. He asked her if she would like to become the wind.
Snow and wind go together and are never truly separated he explained.
She wanted to be with her brother again, so she agreed. The wind didn't mind sharing his power, so he took her mortal breathe and gave her some of his.
With that Jack Frost's little sister became part of the wind. The cold wind that follows Jack everywhere. She was sad when he didn't remember her. So she howled through trees and still does sometimes when she's mad. She carried him through his 300 years of loneliness and helped him with the blizzard of '68. She stayed by his side. Even when he was shoved in a sack and tossed through a magic portal. She carried him into battle against the nightmares and Pitch. She even followed him to Pitch's lair. When he was angry at himself, she blew a blizzard to help him vent some of his anger. She howled and shrieked at Pitch when he had hurt him. And she gladly lifted him up and speeded him on his way to do his part in Pitch's downfall.
She is always with him, laughs when he laughs, and cries when he cries. Though he can't see her, she is and always will be with him.
She doesn't care that no one can see her, all she wants, her only wish, is to be with her brother. To have fun with him forever. And she is grateful to the Man in the Moon and the Wind for granting her wish.
