No! Why must all this happen? Fear start to creep up my heart as I see my father trying to revive my brother that is covered in blood. His fluffy bunny ears that always twitch when he is awake now lie flat against his head. His silvery white hair is dyed red by his own blood. It's all my fault. I should have known that humans won't accept us.
"Xylia you must take your brothers and leave!" I look up at father that is shaking me awake from my trance.
"No! Father! I can't leave you! What will happen to us?"
"Listen to me Xylia, once my spell is complete your brother will come back to life and I will replace him. However we only have a day before Hades find out and come after him. You must leave this world and keep him safe."
"Father…no…..please. I am not strong enough." Tears start to swell in my violet eyes.
"Xylia, you can do it. You must do it. It's your responsibility as a big sister. Ailill, you will have to take your rabbit form from now. Your soul and Aluino's are too much alike. Hades may make a mistake in his rage and take you too."
"Father am I strong enough for this?" I hug my father that is starting to diminish in a bright light. The spell is almost complete. My father is going to die in place of my brother Aluino.
"Xylia dearest" His voice broke when he hug me and Ailill back. "You have the fastest feet that I ever known. If there is anybody that can outrun Death, it will be you. I am sorry for burdening you at such a young age. I love you…" With that our father is gone in a beam of light that light up the night sky for miles.
"Ailill? Sis?" I turn to see Aluino sitting up. His silvery hair now a purplish black colour. A symbol that he cheated death. We rush over and hug him as hard as we could. Then Ailill started to sob uncontrollably causing my tears to fall too. Aluino who was still confuse started to cry with us too "Ailill don't cry! Big sis don't cry! You make me want to cry too!"
Hearing Aluino calling me big sis brought me back to my senses. I am their big sis. I can already see the first glimpse of sun rays between the mountains. We must hurry. We are running out of time.
"Ailill, Aluino listen to me carefully. Go and take the jewels that father made for you and turn into your rabbit form. I will go and take mother's choker and pack some food. We are leaving this world."
As the twins pass through the dimension portal, I look back at the little cottage in the middle of the snowy mountains one last time and I was gone.
