Angela stared at the rose, the one single white rose, perfect in everyway as it lay in the vase where she had placed it the moment she'd gotten back to her apartment.

Flirting was nothing new, even tense moments like the one they had today. He would say too much, or she would and they would be left just staring at each other until one of them broke away. Comments that made others look twice at them. That was normal. That was safe.

But this rose was dangerous. The look in Jack's eyes as he'd placed it next to her. The overwhelming emotion she saw there made her feel like her whole body was melting.

After Kirk the last thing she wanted was something like this. She liked fun, liked simple.

The way Jack looked at her was the exact opposite of simple.

And that rose meant that their relationship was changing, that somewhere along the way they'd formed a relationship and they became more than just flirting partners and she wasn't even sure when that had happened.

She had no idea until the moment that she'd brushed the rose against her face that she was falling in love with Jack.
