Why is the philosopher's stone is called the "philosopher's stone?" It's not much other than life energy condensed into a solid form…But who had the brilliant idea?
Edward and Alphonse Elric walked into a small town. Most of the civilians had left after reports of a strange creature living in the caves outside of the town. Ed and Al had decided to pursue it in hopes of finding the legendary stone.
"Hey, brother, do you really think the stone might be here?"
"I dunno, Al…It could be…That'd be pretty awesome, huh?"
"Yeah! The first thing I'd do is go and get some food!"
Ed laughs as the two boys approach a small shack near the mountains,
"Let's try and find out some stuff before we head up…" Al nods as the two boys enter the shack.
A young man with black hair and gold eyes greets them,
"Hello, how can I help you?"
"Could you tell us about the strange creature living in the mountains?"
The man grimaces and remains silent, refusing to speak to them. The boys leave and get the same response at all the other houses. Finally, Ed decides just to go up to the mountain and find out for himself.
As the two boys enter into the last chamber of the cave, they see a little white creature. Al shouts over to it,
"Excuse me, mister, do you know anything about a philosophers stone…?"
The little white aardvark thing turns and shouts at the boys,
"I am Excalibur! My legend began in the twelfth century! Would you little boys like to hear it! It started on a Monday….Or maybe it was a Tuesday?No, no, a Wednesday. Not it was definitely a Friday, and it was in the summer…or perhaps the Spring…No it was in the fall…."
Ed growls at the thing(?), "I DON'T GIVE DAMN ABOUT YOUR LEGEND, I JUST WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE PHILOSPHER'S STONE! AND DON'T CALL ME LITTLE!"
Al giggles, "Hey big brother chill out…"
Excalibur ignores the outbreak and waves his cane into Ed's face, singing,
"Excaliburrrrrr, Excaliburrrrrr,
From the United Kingdom,
I'm searching for heaven,
I'm going to Californiaaaaa!"
Ed screams at the little thing and runs out of the cave, followed by a laughing Al.
As the Elric Brothers leave the cave, Excalibur turns to a shadowy figure that walks towards him,
"Good Job, Boss, you sure have them fooled…" Envy grins down at his...her...its(?) animal-like boss.
Excalibur just smiles, drinks his coffee, and pets his badger…
The Elric Brothers would never be ready for this new enemy…
