Perfect Love:

Bridget lay on her bed, her eyes wet from all the tears she had just recently shed.

The door opened.

"Bridge, what's wrong?" asked her younger sister Carrie, her bright red hair flying out behind her.

"Nothing. Just the same old-same old. And anyways… I don't want to talk about it. I just want to be alone. Okay?" Bridget said, her voice choking with tears.

"What do you mean by 'same old-same-old'?" Carrie asked.

"Didn't I say I wanted to be alone?" Bridget said, now sounding angry. Carrie wasn't usually one to mess with her problems.

"Okay. If that's what you want." Carrie said, leaving the room.

Bridget began to cry again.

What she'd meant by the same-old, same-old was that she had just added another ex-boyfriend to her ever-expanding list. He hadn't been right for her. He wasn't even nice.

No one was.

That was what got to her every time. Eventually she had to dump him because what she wanted was a perfect relationship.

Perfect love.

Do you need someone?
Are you like me?
Do you fall apart?
You're just like me.

If it wasn't one thing, it was the next. And soon after she met him, she didn't want him anymore. He did one thing to annoy her and she really couldn't deal with the relationship anymore.

She wasn't sure that perfect love even existed.

But she wanted it, just the same.

Have there been times?
You felt so low?
Don't you forget
You're not alone

She knew that her family loved her, but it wasn't the same. Her family loved her, and they always would. Now she just needed to find a guy that did.

I want love love love
I want perfect love.

Really she didn't want to tell Carrie because she didn't want her to know that she needed everything to be perfect. She wanted everyone to think that she just needed herself. Look out for Number One, was what everyone said. But looking out for number one isn't nearly as fun if someone else isn't looking out for you.

Well I pretend
I just need me
I seem so strong
But it's make believe

Bridget seemed to believe that if things weren't perfect then why should she be there anyways? She'd already seen love fail enough times before. What was the point of watching it again and again? Without fail- it always failed.

Cuz I've seen love fail
I've been betrayed
I've seen love pass
I've seen love fade

She was still crying when Carrie showed back up in her room.

"Still don't want to talk?" asked Carrie.

"Actually I do have one question?" said Bridget, her voice not sounding quite as tear choked.

"Shoot?"

"Do you believe in perfect love?" she said.

"I'm not sure, Bridge. But if there is such a thing- you'll find it. Things always work out for you." Carrie said seriously.

"Thanks, Carrie." Said Bridget, standing up to hug her younger sister.

If there is such a thing… I'll find it.

I want love love love
I want perfect love.
I want love love love
I want perfect love.
Will someone tell me where to find
Some place to ease my troubled mind
