THE NEW GIRL

Tomika was sick. They didn't have their bass player. No matter, Lawrence would get a computer to play for her. But they didn't have a singer. Guess Mr. Finn had to do it. Worst of all, today after school, everyone was going to Battle of the Bands.

Lawrence, Freddy, Zack, and Summer were in a bad mood. Tomika had told Summer that she had a really bad fever and couldn't make it to the Battle of the Bands. She told Summer to take her place, even though all of them knew that Summer couldn't sing.

The four of them walked into class with a groan. Even Mr. Finn was upset about the news.

"Don't be upset guys! We can just use so-" Mr. Finn started. He was interrupted by a knock on the door. The door opened and a girl came in. She seemed to be in fifth grade. She had teal pigtails, a white tank top with a teal tie, a gray miniskirt, and gray boots. Everyone looked at her in fascination. She pointed to the microphone, her lips sealed. Everyone looked at the young girl curiously and got up. She swung her pigtails around, hitting Freddy and Lawrence in the face as she took out a phone. She walked towards the microphone. Everyone looked at her. She turned on the music. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Finally, her mouth opened and a soft, yet beautiful voice was heard.

Chikutaku to yume no hajimari o tsugeru
Bokura wa kimi o sagashi nagara utau yo

Everyone stared at her with their mouths dropping to the floor. This girl was the singer they needed. They just couldn't figure out what language she just sang in. She brought up a note on her phone.

"My name is Maria Heron. I wrote the song you just heard. I write all songs for me and friends." The note said. Everyone looked at her again.

"Konnichiwa!" Maria said. A smile was on her face.

"JAPANESE!" Summer shouted.

"What?" Freddy asked.

"She speaks Japanese. That entire song Maria just sang. That was japanese. She doesn't speak English." Summer replied. Everyone ohed. Maria smiled.

"Well, looks like we found our singer! Do you have any other songs for us?" Mr. Finn said.

Hi! Very tired today, so I can't write a lot.

The song that Maria (I bet you can guess who she is by now) sang is called Meteor, it's the first part.
