§§§§§
Gray is the color of his life, has always been and always will be. He knows that much and has no wish to deny it, as long as he can dream a reality which is long gone, a reality that won't return to him, because they all have left him behind, and he is alone with his gray thoughts... And so he sleeps, and the beast which will never abandon him sleeps as well, both of them waiting for what they don't know, but it comes nevertheless. When it does, it makes both the man and the wolf tremble and quiver. It's a smile, the kind of smile you don't easily get to see: it's weird, changing and honest; it's the kind of smile still untouched by pain. It carries life and color with itself... and love.
"Let me teach you how to love," she whispers, and he surrenders. He's always been unable to refuse to learn anything.
Her colors, her nuances sneak into his gray, like the sunbeams break through the clouds. That bright pink hair she often wears comforts him and reminds him that he doesn't need to close his eyes and be asleep to dream anymore...
Red, yellow, green, red again... and suddenly pink, that very same which has always caught his breath, but she shouldn't be there, not now. Yet he feels happiness filling his heart, because, even if he still has to learn a lot about love, he already knows its name, and love is named Nymphadora, love is named Teddy. And her hair means home to him.
"Having you by my side has been a fairy tale," he says.
"Are you disappointed with me now?" She looks at him, concern in her purple eyes.
"No, no, how can you even think of it? I just fear we won't have a happy ending," he sighs.
"You are wrong, so wrong, my dear student," she manages a sly smile despite the death and destruction surrounding the two of them. "We already have it."
He knows she's right.
They smile to each other.
After a quick but intense kiss, they turn around, hand in hand, their souls intertwined.
Red flashes, black hair, green lights, then nothing more but their last breathes and their brave choice. Their brave choice to die. Their brave choice to die for love. That very same love that is still alive and binds them more strongly than ever...
... And when they open their eyes, they look into each other's eyes.
The end
