Postpone Tomorrow
The darkness of the night swallows your face in a way that makes me wish that I could capture the moment. You're Clare Edwards and you're standing inches away from me and I can't remember how long I've wanted this for. Say something. Say anything. The air is filled with a beautiful silence that is rather fulfilling. "Do you think we could pick up where we left off?" But you just stand there. And you smile because you know in a couple of minutes that this will all be over. So let's just enjoy it while we can.
The lights and sounds flash around your still body, but yet my eyes are still drawn to you. I want to say something, but the silence is so rare and amazing that I stay quiet. "I still love you Eli." Her perfect voice says interrupting the silence. "But I don't know if I can do this again." "If we can do this again." You sigh and your warm breath creates a puff of air in front of your face. "I can't promise you forever Clare." "But I can promise you tomorrow." And then you smile that smile that only you could do and you don't know what to say; so you don't.
You look up with me those crystal blue orbs and I allow myself to get lost in them one last time. And it doesn't make sense. How this feeling is caused by something so beautiful. And as the world laughs down on our naiveté, we smile back because we have nothing to prove. I'm me and you're everything.
You look over at me as your blue eyes gaze into mine. The sky turns darker and darker as time stands still. "You don't know long I've waited for you to say that. You wrap your arms around me and I ignore all feeling and give into you. ""Eli." You breathe as you try to make sure that this is real. "Clare." I breathe back. And though only two words were spoken, the heart filled words are oh so satisfying. You inhale her sweet fragrance and the exhilaration is too much, so you close your eyes to regain your composure.
You're soft lips crash into mine, so harsh, but yet so inviting. Your creamy skin melts into mine as the heat from your warm body radiates over my mine. As I close my eyes, every beautiful and amazing moment is slowly ticking down as the night turns into another day. Postpone tomorrow so we can stay just a bit longer.
