First off: I'm blaming this all on Duilin. The pairing may be mine, but Ecthelion's last line is her's and she encouraged me. ;) So this one's dedicated to her.
Oh yeah. CRACK WARNING!
The Dagor Dagorath was raging on. Morgoth had released his most horrible creations in response to the (former) mortals who had returned to stand with friends and kin against the Darkness.
But Ecthelion, formerly Lord of the House of the Fountain of Gondolin, stood stock still amidst the chaos, staring at the (former) mortal women who had just walked up to Glaurung and slapped him in the face. She had returned with the rest of her family, and was apparently extremely resentful towards the Maia who had destroyed her life, berating the really confused former dragon.
"Glorfindel," he said to his best friend who was nearby. "I think I'm in love." Glorfindel looked torn between amusement and alarm.
"Really?" he asked. "You do know who she is, right?" Ecthelion nodded determinedly.
"I do," he replied. Amusement began to dominate Glorfindel's face, as he continued.
"Then you know that she has a father and a brother you really don't want to cross," he cautioned. Ecthelion shrugged.
"I killed Gothmog, I think I can handle it," he said, moving towards the (former) mortal who now stood near her father and brother, though Ecthelion was amused to notice Túrin was now talking to Finduilas.
"Ecthelion!" Glorfindel called. Ecthelion turned back around to look at him. He grinned.
"What are you going to do if she goes all weepy again?"
Ecthelion sniffed.
"Then her tears can fill my fountain," he said haughtily, and turned again to make his way over to Nienor, leaving Glorfindel laughing hysterically.
