AU Where Caroline's father chose to transition into a vampire so that he can protect Caroline and also study the thing which he hates most. One day while out doing research he stumbles upon Klaus's property and is bitten by one of his hybrids. Klaus takes him as a prisoner to question him about his research. Caroline comes looking for him and begs Klaus to save her father and take her in his place. He agrees and feeds her father his blood and sends him off. She sends a letter to her friends saying that she went off to find Tyler and for them not to worry about her. Her father tries to tell them the truth, but they think he's just trying to set a trap for Damon and Stefan since he hates vampires. Klaus gives Caroline a room and her own personal hybrid servant, but she hates him for not letting her say goodbye to everyone. They banter a lot. She is fiesty and he often loses his temper. One day she is exploring the masion and find some of his art, including many sketches of her. She is confused and he finds her and loses his temper once again. She tries to run away but doesn't realize it is the full moon and ends up getting attacked by a rogue werewolf pack. Klaus saves her and brings her back. He is severely wounded, but Caroline helps him heal. She sees his softer side. He shows her his stables and tells her she can choose any horse to be her own. He shows her his art and tells her about places all over the world they could travel. She says it would be wonderful but she would miss her family and friends too much, so he lets her go. When she returns to her friends they immediately go into kill Klaus mode, even though she tries to tell them he's not the monster they think he is. So, they vervain her and go off without her. They sneak onto his property while a lot of Klaus's hybrids are off on a recruiting mission and catch Klaus off-guard. He tries to transform and Bonnie casts a spell that traps him mid-transformation so that he is half-vamp/half-wolf and only half as strong as either. Caroline wakes up, grabs some vervain darts and immediately rushes to Klaus's mansion only to find Damon about to dagger Klaus. As he plunges the dagger into his chest. In an adrenaline fueled rage, she vervains Damon and Stefan and throws Bonnie back, knocking her unconsious. She rushes to Klaus and pulls the dagger out of his chest, but he doesn't move. She cries and tells him he can't be dead and makes an awesome speech about how she loves him. Then she kisses him. His body returns to it's vampire form and he opens his eyes. The dagger had barely missed his heart. They gather all their things and run away together to Europe, where they travel and he shows her all the things he told her about.
