Disclaimer: If I owned the Potterverse Dobby never would have died. Can I get an amen?
A/N: This oneshot is actually associated with the seventh chapter of my Marauders fic A Separate Place. It follows the same theme but it's from Severus's point of view. : ) It can however stand alone.
Lily of the Valley (let's forgive and be happy again)
It had been two years.
Two years of cold eyes and silence and loneliness where there had once been warm smiles and laughter and friendship. Lily had been his world and now that world was gone.
It was time to let go.
He'd wasted two years, two years, of his life waiting and hoping and praying for forgiveness. He'd tried to apologize, had made it more than clear that he missed her, that he wanted to be friends again and she had made it abundantly clear that she wanted nothing more to do with him.
He would respect her wishes. He would have to. Time was up.
Their time at school was ending and the outside world was in chaos. The time for forgiveness had passed. War was the order of the day and they were on different sides, the mark on his arm made that perfectly clear.
The Snake and the Lion. The Light and the Dark. Lily would go on to become the hero she'd always been destined to be. She would walk through the terror and come out the other side unscathed, as brilliant and shining as she'd always been.
He would make sure of it. He would do whatever he had to, to ensure that Lily would not be tainted by the coming horror.
He loved her. He would protect her.
It would have to be enough.
A/N: This random drabble was brought to you courtesy of NaNoWriMo and my imagination. All reviews are appreciated and adored. I have no fear of constructive criticism. I'd especially appreciate any feedback on my Snape characterization. I've never tried to write anything from his POV before and I love to know how you thought I did.
