Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh
A/N: these characters…they don't like me. Short due to not having much time due to school and a death in the family but I'm happy with what I wrote.
Footsteps in the snow
Serenity walked through the snow on her way home from school. The snow was falling gently and Serenity hoped that either Duke or Tristan would be convinced to play in it with her after. As she reached the home she was sharing with the two, she felt her heart sink a little as she spotted the driveway unshoveled. Usually one of her boyfriends were home by now.
Walking up to the door, Serenity noticed a note taped to the door with her name on it. opening it up, Serenity frowned at seeing three words only.
'Follow the Footsteps'
Looking around, Serenity smiled at seeing a trail of footprints leading away from the house but it was only one set so Serenity didn't know who left her the trail. Hopping off the porch, Serenity followed the prints around the house and across the backyard, pausing when they vanished into the woods. Hesitating for a moment, Serenity looked around once before crossing the tree line.
Inside the trees the prints continued on clearly. Heartened by this, Serenity followed the prints, wondering where she was being taken to. The footprints every so often were a little messed, as if the walker slipped but there was no slip marks in the ground underneath which was strange.
After she had been walking for a while, Serenity came into a clearing where the footsteps became a jumbled mess with no clear direction due to overlaying tracks. Stopping, she looked around curiously before squeaking as two snowballs pelted her and Tristan's and Duke's laughs erupting from the silence.
"That wasn't nice! How did you both get here if there was only one print?" she asked as the two came up, Duke wiping her face off with his scarf.
"I made the trail and Duke followed in my footsteps since my feet are bigger," Tristan replied. Well, that explained why a few times the clear print looked a bit smudged. "We thought we'd surprise you. There's a huge stack of wood for a bonfire tonight, and once the clouds finish clearing, there's supposed to be an aurora tonight."
Serenity's eyes lit up. She loved looking at the stars, and this clearing was far enough away from downtown Domino to escape most of the light pollution. "Thank you," she said sincerely before giggling as Duke and Tristan each kissed a cheek before moving to finish setting up arrangements for viewing the sky once the sun set. Serenity was lucky to have both of them.
