6 years ago. At an elementary school in Great Lakes City.

Victor, 11 years old, is standing next to his locker. He is feeling nervous while looking at one of the girls across the hall.

Victor: (inside his head) Alright Victor. You can do this. Just tell her how you feel. Don't screw this up.

Victor walks towards the group of girls. He nervously starts talking to the girl he was looking at.

Victor: Uh, hey there.

The girls turned to look at Victor. The name of the girl Victor is talking to is Carlota Casagrande.

Carlota: Oh, hey there! You're that kid from Math Class. Hard not to notice, since you seem to answer every math question right.

Victor still feels nervous talking to Carlota. He tries his best to continue the conversation.

Victor: Oh, yeah. Thanks. People see me as a great mathematician. So, how are you?

Carlota: I'm good. How about you?

Victor: I'm good as well. (inside his head) Okay, you got this, Victor. Don't ruin your chance. (to Carlota) There is something I've been meaning to tell you.

Carlota: Okay. What is it?

The other girls in the group giggle quietly, thinking about where this is going.

Victor: I have known you for a long time now, and I wanted to say...

Carlota: (also thinking about where this is going) Yes?

Victor: (inside his head) Dang it! I can't do it! (to Carlota) ...where is the water fountain?

Carlota and the girls starred at Victor with confused faces.

Carlota: That's what you've been trying to tell me?

Victor: (feeling defeated but not showing it): Yes, that. Where is the water fountain? Nothing else.

Carlota: Oh. Well, it's right around the corner down that hall. (points to the hall)

Victor: Thanks.

Carlota: No problem.

Victor then walks down the hall and turns at the corner. He feels upset and defeated.

Victor: (inside his head) Really, Victor? You had to ruin it at the last second! Oh, what's the point? I'll never tell Carlota how I feel. I don't think I'm good enough for her. Oh, well. At least I can drink the water from this fountain to wash away this stress.

Victor presses the button to turn on the water, only to see a "Not in Service" sign.

Victor: Dang it.
