In the Moonlight

Everytime he left, her heart broke even more. Everytime she saw them, a tear escaped her eyes. The girl just wanted a normal life. One where she didn't fall into a well. One where she didn't know a certain hanyou. Then her fragile heart wouldn't be so broken. This life was something wonderful, yet terrible at the same time. Something she'd never imagined, but got anyway. The pain was a thing that wasn't meant to happen. As was the love she felt for him.

Cerulean blue eyes watched the scene before her. She watched him embrace a woman from the past. Someone long ago dead, but brought back to life. Betrayed and broken, the woman only held hatred for the man before her. Blue eyes closed tightly in and she let a tear escape an eye. Another fell as she opened her eyes and listened to the man speak.

"I'm sorry, but my heart belongs to…" he had trailed off and looked in her direction. "Kagome." He said quietly. Kagome in turn backed up slowly. She had been standing behind a tree.

"Inuyasha." Another tear fell, adding a tear to her heart. His golden eyes held love and Kagome assumed it to be directed at Kikyou. She ran back the way she came, tears running down her cheeks heatedly; falling behind her. Inuyasha chased after her. He felt her tears hit his face. The sorrow radiating from her fragile being was heart wrenching. Kagome could feel the burn in her calves, yet she willed her legs faster and harder. Tears drying some, Kagome ran to the top of a hill and stopped unable to go any longer. She watched the sky, not caring if Inuyasha caught up to her.

Inuyasha saw her stop and sighed; stopping right behind her. He reached out and took hold of her shoulder. Spinning her around, Inuyasha looked into her eyes. Kagome let her head fall forward and she looked at the ground.

"Kagome."

"What?" she asked with choked emotion.

"Look at me." She refused to look up at him. So, Inuyasha grabbed her chin and delicately lifted her head to look at him.

"You didn't let me finish back there." He said. Kagome looked to the side.

"You were going to say, 'my heart belongs to you only, Kikyo.' Weren't you?" Kagome asked looking at him; cerulean locking with gold. Inuyasha chuckled and leaned to Kagome's ear.

"No joji, I was going to say, 'my heart belongs to Kagome. And only her.'" He whispered; moving back to look at her. A shiver went down Kagome's spine as his hot breath passed her skin. She opened her mouth to speak, but Inuyasha claimed it before a word could pass her lips. Lips trembling, Kagome returned the delicate kiss and closed her eyes. The moon shining down on them, Kagome broke the kiss first.

"Kagome." Inuyasha murmured resting his forehead upon hers.

"Yes, Inuyasha?" he looked into her eyes and kissed her again; licking her bottom lip. Kagome opened her mouth for him and Inuyasha deepened the kiss. He let his tongue play with hers. Kagome returned the kiss with equal passion.

Breaking the kiss Inuyasha murmured one thing,

"I love you." And then the rain fell. Looking up at him, Kagome smiled and tackled him. The rain falling gently on them as they kissed in the moonlight.

This is my third one shot. I hope you liked it. And depending on the reviews and my inspiration level, I may make it into a short story.
