"Bella? Bella, where are you?" I heard an urgent, familiar voice call.

I tried moving, but my limbs fell like they were glued to the ground. My eyes stayed shut.

"God, Bella! There you are!" I heared the voice say, reliefe evident in it. I was finally able to open my eyes. It was Edward.

"Edward?" I asked, my voice raspy and hoarse from the lack of use.

"Are you ok, Bella?" he asked.

"Um... I dont know," I said confused. He came up to me and scooped me up in his arms. But it was different this time. Not like any other time. His cold, hard, marble skin was no longer the same. It was soft and... warm?

"Bella, what happened to you?" he asked slowly and cautiously. I tried focusing and remembering what I could, but how could I, though? Edward was back, he was back from where ever he was. Or was this some sick, sadistic dream? I had so many questions for him. But first, I had to answer his. Not only because he wanted to know, but because I wanted to.

Then, suddenly, it all rushed back.

"Laurent..." I trailed off thoughtfully.

"What? Bella, what?" he asked franticaly. "What do you remember?" he asked in a stern voice.

"I-I was in the woods and... Laurent. I saw Laurent. Then I... I heard your voice, Edward.." I spoke quietly while I kept remembering.

"Yes, Bella, but what exactly did Laurent say and do?" he asked letting his annoyance be obvious that I was taking so long to answer.

"He said Victoria was looking for me. She wanted to kill me, but she was going be very angry with him," I finally said.

"What?" he asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "What do you mean, Bella?"

I knew what happend now. "Mate for mate," I whispered, realizing the horror of the situation finally. I looked up at Edward. His expression was hard to read, not that it was ever easy in the first place. Mad, shock, upset, and most of all, mortified. I looked down at myself, and saw pale arms. I finally realized what he was upset and mortified about. I was just like him.

I was... a Vampire.
