Lain (KOMORU):
Layer 14: Rebirth
Lain walked down the road that used to be her home. The old building she used to live in had been torn down and forgotten, her family: deleted, and her life: never existed. None of it ever existed since The Reset. Lain and all of her belongings disappeared with the death of God and The Reset.
If Lain had had a real family she would've loved them much more than what she was given. 'Co-existing programs,' she thought. 'Is that all I am too? A program? Or can I be real?' Lain did have one family member, well... a friend, Arisu. Arisu was still her friend now, and she hadn't seen her since directly before and right after The Reset.
The Reset... a time when she was confused, angry, and tired. After deleting God of the Wired, she Reset everyone's memories and she hoped she could somehow still live in those memories, but happier. Her memories were usually bad, but she missed having people around to talk to. She had another friend, named Chisa, who committed suicide, which triggered everything that had happened. She was reborn however, as was everyone who died at the time and after Chisa's suicide.
Lain used to talk to people in the Wired, but it got too dangerous as she was afraid another outbreak might occur. She wondered if Eerie would become a God again, so Lain set firewalls around the Wired disabling everyone's connections. She knew it was for the better. Though, when she blocked the Wired a few hours ago she trapped herself inside. She can't live within it and can't live without it, what is she to do?
