Disclaimer: I don't own bones or "bullet" by Matt Kearney or "All downhill from here" by Amy Kuney or "I will possess your heart" by deatch cab for cutie. Although I would love to won all four.

Summary: Just a series of drablles built around songs and the last two episodes of the season :

'Cause I would take a bullet for you
I would take a bullet for you
I would cross any line, I'd swim across the sea
I would take a bullet for you
I would take a bullet for you
I would lose it all, take my fall
To show you it's for real

"Come on Booth." Her words kept replaying in his head as he wrote her name in red ink at the top of the list. She begged him to stay with her and he wanted her to know that he did. He swam through the foggy sea that surrounded him after he'd been shot. Why? Because there was so much more to tell her. He wanted to scream that they were more than just partners, that he loved her. The line was crossed, he had taken a bullet for her, no small feat. When he felt the searing pain in his chest, felt his head hit the corner of the stage as he fell, he knew that there was no denying it anymore. Everything had changed. He tried to tell her while she was begging him stay come on, in the ambulance, and now, he wrote her name on the list of people to be notified that he wasn't dead. He wanted her to know that they had a chance, this was real.

Can't pull myself from out of the bed, its 12 o'clock inside my head
The people outside feel so far away
I have a headache in my chest, from all the chaos that you left
Caffeine and Aspirin take me away

You tipped my world up on its side,
but it's all downhill from here.
Mountain tops, level like parking lots
Cause it's all downhill from here.

It was Sunday when she got the call, Booth was dead, he had died protecting her. She wanted to sit to keep her jelly knees from making her fall to the floor but she couldn't. She wanted to stand still so that her mind could catch up to her, but she didn't. She paced, silent tears pouring from her eyes, until the silent tears became heart wrenching sobs, sobs that continued until her chest hurt. She didn't hear Angela come in, but when she felt arms wrap around her, she knew. For a moment she pretended it was him, Booth. But only for a moment. After a while Angela forced her to her feet and made her sit in the kitchen while she made a pot of coffee. Temperance zoned out, trying to keep the room from spinning off it's axis, trying to keep gravity from crushing her. "Sweetie" Angela's voice broke into her thoughts as she handed her two aspirin and a cup of coffee.

"He promised not to leave me." Temperance whispered. "If he couldn't keep his promise... I think it's all down hill from here Ang."

How I wish you could see the potential, the potential of you and me
It's like a book elegantly bound, but in a language that you can't read - just yet
You gotta spend some time--love, you gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find--love, I will possess your heart

"I find your lack of puritan modesty very refreshing." She said before walking out the door and sliding it closed behind her. He took a deep breathe and released it before taking a drink from his hat the dispensed beer. He didn't know that she was standing on the other side of the wall, trying to understand what had just happened, just like she had no idea he was doing the same thing in the bath tub. They both understood the shift that had taken place, they just couldn't place exactly where the shift had taken place, where exactly they had become so comfortable with each other. The thoughts were all there, but neither could grasp them, like a passing conversation in a foreign language, it was just beyond them. Perhaps if they had more insight, all they needed was a little time to understand.
