Jack took several deep breaths as he approached Bones' office where Angela was quietly drawing. He'd decided last night that it was time to ask her out. He'd been working up to it for weeks. The rose and the compliments and he'd been gratified with her response, with her flirting in return.

But yesterday had been something very different. Yesterday they'd connected on a deeper level. He could barely sleep last night. All he'd been able to think about was her eyes looking into his, willing him to calm down, telling him to just talk to her.

She'd understood what he needed when no one else did.

And for better or worse he was taking the plunge.

Angela huddled over her sketchpad. On slow days like this she made a point to take her entire lunch break. She needed it, needed the break from the murder and pain to just be normal.

She worked steadily, pencil moving until the image of Jack's eyes stared back at her. She'd drawn his eyes the way they'd looked yesterday as she'd talked him down. The look that told her he saw no one else but her. Jack looked at her the way she'd talked about with Caroline Epps. His eyes followed her, looking for no reason except to look.

As she looked down at her finished sketch she wondered when he would do more than look.

"Angela," his voice came from behind her and she turned and smiled at him, "Hi."

"You look very nice today. Again."

She continued smiling, "Well thanks, Hodgie. Again."

For a moment both were silent then Jack moved forward slightly, before stopping, then coming even closer and sitting beside her on the coach.

"I was, I was wondering…if you maybe wanted to do something tonight."

"Something?" her tone held a wealth of meaning.

He went for it, "Dinner. Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?"

Angela's smile never left her face, "I'd like that."

Jack smiled for the first time since he'd entered the room and as he raised all signs of insecurity were gone from his body, "Okay, well, great. I'll pick you up at 8."

"Okay," she agreed.

He began to walk out of the room, "So see you then, well I'll see you before then, because we both work here, but I'll see you tonight too."

Angela smiled and nodded, turning back to her sketch after he left.

His eyes stared back at her. Adoring her.
