Asami grunted as she tried pushing in the last pin to the wheels of the drum major stand. The old metal rig refused to allow the drum major to finish its setup, almost as if it was trying to stall the senior's last practice for as long as it could. When the pin was finally accepted, Asami thanked the spirits for her sturdy footing on the pavement, for she knew she would have fallen right into the contraption if she had stumbled. With a triumphant grin, the girl lobbed her sweatshirt and water jug onto the top of the stand and started to steer it down to the field. On her way down, she was joined by the color guard captain, Opal Beifong. The two exchanged greetings, making idle talk about how today's practice was bittersweet. When the field's entrance was only a few feet away, Opal practically shoved Asami out from under the stand.
"I almost forgot to tell you! Lin wanted to see you up in the box before practice. Don't worry about this old thing, I know where to set it up!" The girl was off before Asami could even give a thanks.
The drum major walked up the stands to the speaker's box, opening the door and looking around for the band director. "Lin? Hello?" Asami looked around, trying to find the director. Her brow furrowed at the odd occurrence, and decided to exit the box to look for Lin at her car. However, when she started to walk down the stands, the beat of the metronome started to pulse and band members started to march onto the field in a pattern completely opposite to their show formation. At the head of the pack was her girlfriend, Korra, playing her trumpet to a familiar tune.
"What is this?" Asami shook her head as she continued down to the field, starting to laugh as the snares began to swing and dance to the melody that the brass section was playing. As Korra marched closer to her girlfriend, she started to dance, taking her trumpet from her mouth. Asami laughed uncontrollably when she saw this, her laughter causing the tan girl to breakout in a goofy grin and her dance moves to become a bit more goofy.
By the time Asami reached the head of the field, the color guard started to dance and spin their flags, rifles, and sabers. Those who were dancing happened to be doing what Korra was doing, eventually doing a cheesy jazz hand move as Korra reached Asami.
"Everytime that you get undressed, I hear symphonies in my head," Korra quoted, her raised eyebrow and smirk causing Asami to playfully smack her on her shoulder.
"Oh, did you now?" Asami asked, giving her a skeptical look, crossing her arms.
"Yep," Korra answer, putting an emphasis on the 'p'. "Cause you see those drums? They're swinging low. But the trumpets, well they go," Korra started to play again, coming back to the song she had been previously playing.
Asami blushed as her girlfriend started to get low while playing, swinging her legs this way and that, completely ridiculous in her actions. "You know you want to dance. You've been fixated on this song ever since it played on the radio the other day." Korra spoke over her mouthpiece, wiggling her eyebrows at her girlfriend.
With a laugh Asami started to dance with the trumpet player, dancing with moves just as ridiculous as Korra's.
It was about a minute into the two of them dancing before Lin stormed down to the field, demanding who blocked her office door with a barricade of old show props.
