Attention
She unlocked and opened the door to their apartment, as she walked inside she saw him sitting on the sofa surrounded by papers, folders and stacks of thick law books. He didn't look up as she closed the door behind herself and walked across the room to greet him. She reached the sofa, leaned over it and placed a kiss on his cheek.
"Hey." She said softly.
"Hey." He replied taking his eyes off his book only to glance at her for a second before going right back to reading. She shook her head and smiled then quietly headed through to the bedroom, once there she took off her shoes and put them away in the wardrobe. She changed out of her work clothes into a pair of leggings and a jumper then left the room. He was still concentrating intensely as she reentered the room and walked into the kitchen, so she tried her best to be quiet.
Barba finished the chapter he had been reading and began to rub his neck. As he lifted his eyes from the page he saw a delicious looking plate of food sitting on a paper towel on top of one of his law books on the coffee table in front of him. He stared at it for a moment watching tendrils of steam rising from the freshly cooked food on the plate then noticed a glass containing two fingers of scotch sitting next to it. He turned around to see her plating up her own meal and noticed a single place setting had been laid out on the dinning table. He immediately stood and picked up the plate of food and the scotch and carried it over to the dining table. He put it down and then entered the kitchen. He walked up to her and gently took her plate of food from her hand, he placed it on the counter beside them then pulled her into his arms. She stared at him, a small of smile playing on her lips as she rested her arms on his shoulders.
"Your current case is obviously a tough one. I thought it best to leave you to it." She explained briefly glancing at the piles of papers, folders and law books covering the sofa and coffee table before looking back at him. He stared at her in wonder, unable to fathom how he'd managed to find and more improbably keep a woman as incredible as her.
"I don't deserve you, do I?" He asked.
"No, you don't." She teased grinning. He smiled but only briefly, he was so in love with the woman in his arms he couldn't bear the thought of his job getting in the way. She read the concern on his face and wrapped her arms around his neck bringing them even closer together.
"I know I'll get time with you once the case is finished. When we spend time together you're the most attentive, thoughtful and loving guy a girl could ask for, that's why this works." She reassured him.
"That, and I really like my me time." She added grinning. He continued to stare at her, very aware of how lucky he was to have her.
"I love you." He told her earnestly.
"I love you too." She replied smiling, she had barely got the words out before he captured her lips with his. She kissed him back and moments later she felt his hands begin to move up her body underneath her jumper. Though she was enjoying his suddenly very affectionate mood she reluctantly broke their kiss, and placed her hands on his arms to halt his hands upward movement. He looked at her slightly disappointed and she broke into smile.
"Dinner's getting cold."
