First, there's Mona. Geeky, unpopular, stupid, stupid Mona; all pigtails and glasses and plaid-sweaters and she sits alone at lunch, gazing at her crush from across the cafeteria (the one in the black hood laughs). Somehow she one day works up the courage to talk to her -straight blonde hair and sweetness and insecurity making your heart swell- Hanna, asks her, with nervous eyes and stuttering speech if she wants to come over to Mona's house this weekend (the one in the black hoodie knows how this will turn out but she doesn't say anything. She watches and lets poor, sweet, moony-eyed Mona smile at Hanna and hope and hope) but then sweet pink smiles are pushed aside by red smirks and different, curly blonde hair and mean things about Mona (and about Hanna. You're not sure which upsets you more) and she leads Hanna away from you, pulls her away like a puppet to sit with her three other most favorite dolls (the one in black hoodie comforts Mona, all hugs and reassurances and conspiratorial promises of payback).

(Two months later, Alison Dilaurentis recieves the first message- a crisp, typewriter written letter full of lovely little threats about snapping her neck)

Then, beautifully, Alison disappears. Hanna spends less and less time with her friends, it makes all of your brilliant, brilliant voices oh so happy (even the one in the black hoodie almost smiles). You and Hanna eventually hang out together and Hanna thinks that all you do is help her transform the two of you into Rosewood High's IT- Girls and, secretly, you transform yourself into the puppeteer herself (red smirks and curly hair and cruel remarks- because maybe, maybe if you wear *her* skin for a while then Hanna will love you).… you call this voice Alison (the one in the black hoodie gets an idea).

From all the way in Iceland, Aria returns, eccentricities now complimented by a newfound confidence. You watch as your favorite little dolls make such lovely little messes of their lives and you smile, fondly. The one in the black hoodie sends them all messages, calls herself 'A'- (Even Hanna gets one- she did, after all, reject you before and that just cannot go without punishment, says the one in the black hoodie). It's nice, hurting them like this, the control- the power you have over them. But, but, instead of driving Hanna into your arms for good, it draws her closer to ~them~ (the one in the black hoodie- 'A', that's this one's name- *seethes*).

( You're all watching, when 'A' hits Hanna with a truck. Mona cries and begs you to turn around, to ~please~ stop this madness. Alison is furious, snarls and claws coming out.)

Eventually, though it takes some time- your girls are smart, but then so are you, and besides; you're very dedicated- they find out about you. You stare straight back at Hanna as she almost runs you over and then you attack Spencer (pity really, she could've been molded into something ~beautiful~) but this one's got a spark in her and somehow you're the one who ends up falling off the cliff; you survive it.

At Radley, you do not talk. You do not speak to the nurses or the blonde patient who you can sometimes hear scratching at the walls and singing and who mutters about 'lies' and chews on her hair. You keep your face a blank, stoical mask and when anyone visits you- mommy and daddy, even Hanna- you look right through them. (This voice, it never talks, but you name it Courtney.)

Author's Note:

So this is really crappily written and I don't actually believe that Mona has MPD; I actually intended for this to be about Mona sort of hiding the other sides of herself and then giving them personas and backstories while she was at Radley but I am a really bad writer and this is how it came out. I really mean no disrespect towards people with MPD and I realize that this probably isn't a good description of it. Please review with constructive criticism!
