Sam fidgeted as the librarian chatted to the woman in front of him. If he didn't get back soon, his brother would get impatient and try some investigating on his own.
Nothing good ever came of them splitting up.
His best glares were having no effect, and after another minute, Sam gave up. He took the book back to the shelf. Out of sight of the desk, he carefully ripped out the incantation he needed, and slipped the page into his pocket.
The librarian's glasses glinted accusingly as his cell-phone rang loudly. He ran.
He arrived just in time.
