As Vrael sits in the tower of Ristvak'baen waiting for Galbatorix, he reflects on the recent events that would lead to his demise. Mostly speculation about what happened. First entry in the thoughts of the moment series.

A/N: Hello every one. This is the first installment in a series of oneshots I call the thoughts of the moment. Some will be poems, some won't. They're basically the thoughts of Eragon characters before important events. Some characters will be repeated for different events.

LAST THOUGHTS OF VRAEL

I sit here in the tower,

And I wonder why I tried

My enemies will triumph,

And all my friends have died.

I sit here with my dragon,

We're waiting for the end

I sit here and I realize,

He's my only living friend

I hear the dark one coming,

He's coming for me now

I know I can't defeat him,

But I'll go out with a POW!

The end is near, my time has come,

But I'll say one more thing here,

The dragon riders will come again,

It is this fair lands wyrd.
