The music on her
radio swelled as Sam pulled up in front of Jack's
cabin.
One
of her favorite songs, although she would never admit it to
him,
since he would undoubtably wonder at her scientific,
cool
professional exterior having such a romantic heart.
But every time she heard it, it reminded her of Jack.
"When I think back on these times, and the dreams we left behind..."
Did
we leave those dreams behind, she wondered.
After we admitted it
to ourselves, it was almost like we were too
scared to face
it.
That we could have a life together, to match our wildest dreams.
"... you were right there for me..."
Too true, she thought.
Jack O'Neill was always there for her.
When she was taken over by the entity.
When she thought her whole team was dead.
When she was pursued by the super soldier.
When Janet was killed.
Always there with strong arms to hold her, with no talking needed.
"...in
my heart, there'll always be a place for you, for all
my
life..."
The most precious place, she thought.
Because she loved him. She
loved others like her dad, and Cassie,
and Daniel and Teal'c.
But she loved him like no other.
The
one that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, in his
life,
in his cabin, in his bed .
Sharing the good moments as well as the bad.
And it was time to tell him so.
She got out of the car as the music ended.
And broke into a run toward the
man standing
on the dock.
