Flicker of Hope
"The beautiful blue sky spreads endlessly above... people would always look at it and can't help but admire its beauty. But as the sky turns dark and gray, as if tragedy will soon occur…
…people can't help but feel scared…" -
It won't let go, and it never will. It grasps you with its blood stained hands and drags you down into its depths. There is no escaping.
It didn't happen suddenly like most would have thought. It happened over time. Those eyes started to dull, no longer having the shine they once had. Innocence was lost. Blood was spilled. The hands of time can't be turned back. Once cheerful smiles seemed more forced, losing their warmth. They no longer seemed to insure everything was going to be okay. They didn't come as often as before.
The once calm blue skies were darkening to stormy gray.
It wasn't hard to see. The sky was falling.
All the weight of the world on his frail shoulders hunched them. The sins that he committed. But he didn't let it show. No, he kept standing tall, was keeping it all in for them. It was always for them.
Why can't anybody hear him crying?
Why couldn't they see that they were destroying the sky. The thoughtless comments and unconscious actions were wearing the sky down.
I know he was their hero. Their `Superman`. The unbeatable hero that couldn't be defeated. Didn't they understand that he was also human? That he also had dreams and hope for the future? The ones he had to give up to keep them safe. That he could also bleed?
The sky wasn't meant to stand alone. It needs to be supported. For it cannot be the sky without its weathers. So where were they?
Where was the blessed rain that washes everything away?
Where was the sun, that illuminates the darkness, chasing away all doubts, giving hope?
Where was the mist, the one who is supposed to see through the deceit?
Where was the storm, furious and relentless in its attacks?
Where was the cloud? The one who protects from a far?
Where was the lightning, there draw away the damage done?
Where were his guardians?
It wasn't hard to see. They saw the signs. I know they did. I know that they were ignoring them. I understand that they are scared and don't know what to do. But before they are his guardians, they are his friends. They shouldn't be pushing him away.
The sky, the one that accepted them all. The one that understands them, offered them a home and cares for them, was breaking.
It was too late to repair the damage done. The scars will forever be there no matter how many layers of bandages he uses to cover them up with.
There is just a glimmer of light in the darkness. A sliver of hope.
I may be just one person and I know that I can't ever replace them, but I can try. He doesn't have to give up.
I'm still here. I can be anything if it is for him.
His friend.
his family.
His tutor.
His flicker of hope.
