The Price for an Office

She wasn't too thrilled to find the Kamui of the Dragons of Earth so young, but she draped herself across her chest anyway. She gave him a smile much like the one she received: icy cold, yet hidden beneath the glamour of warmth. She hadn't gotten where she was by good will after all, and as for him –

Well, he was the Kamui of the Dragons of Earth. There wasn't a whole lot one could really say beyond that, particularly as they had just met.

They were alone soon after that, and the boy turned to her.

'You Wish I were older?' His tone sounded older; the emphasis on the word "wish" simply sent a chill down her spine.

She twisted a long lock of hair. 'I wouldn't say that,' she said carefully.

He regarded her coolly. 'No,' he agreed after a pause. 'I suppose not. Your true Wish…is something else entirely.'

The smile slipped for a moment before she adjusted it. 'You interested?' she tossed coyly.

'In doing business with you, Miss Kanoe?' He laughed, sounding far more a man than the teenager he truly was. 'I'm sure we can come to a satisfactory arrangement.'

She smiled as well. Perhaps age was of inconsequence – but then she shivered as he turned to go, and the business mask fell completely as she felt goosebumps sneak up her arms.

Why did it feel to her as though she had signed her soul over to the devil?

The Kamui of the Dragon of Earth left without hesitation, accepting the office she had offered him.
