Before his secret came out he would have been gone long before morning. David would have woken to a cold bed, with nothing more then a pleasant memory to comfort him.
And as much as Colby always wanted to stay in that warm bed, with those arms wrapped around him, he knew leaving was the only way he could protect his partner.
So before the sun even peeked through the darkness Colby would slip out of the bed, out of his lover's arms and into his cold clothing and even more chilled car.
But after, after his secret came out it was a whole another story. At first it was getting back into David's bed (and his heart) that had been the first challenge. Then when the bed/heart had been conquered, Colby found himself with another challenge.
He didn't want to leave the warmth for the cold. Not anymore, not when he had nothing left to hide. Not when he could bare his soul to the man at his side and fear nothing.
"You still here?" David's gruff voice asked late one night.
Colby blinked, breaking his staring contest with the ceiling. "Um…Yeah,"
David's hand slide up Colby's stomach, "Great,"
Colby grinned, resting his hand over David's, encouraging his roaming. Colby nestled closer toward David.
Before had been good, but after….after was great.
