Lila walked down the busy streets of the small town shewas passing through. She didn't know where she was. She didn't know where she'd end up.
Until she met Damen.
Damen had seen her travelling by foot. He had pulled up his carriage and offered her a ride to wherever she was going. He was handsome, and who was she to refuse a ride from someone like him?
She had sat down while he kindly took her bags and put them in the back of the wooden cart, climbing in next to her after he was finished.
"What's your name?" he asked her.
"Lila," she told him, smiling. His dark hair hung low in his eyes, his smile white and wide. She blushed and began staring at her feet.
"No reason to be shy," he said, "I'm Damen." It was at that moment that reality hit herWhys at would a dashing young gentleman want with the likes of her?
"Well, Damen, what is your plan?"
"Plan?" he asked.
"You know, take the girl and court her, just so that you can become the Duke of wherever you're from. I don't know why you're bothering with me, though. There are so many other beautiful girls that you can find that you didn't pick up off the side of the road."
"That's not the reason," he said. And slowly she began to believe it. She began feeling something she had never felt before, a pull, an irresistible tug, something she couldn't quite out her finger on.
