Disclaimer: If I was Suzanne Collins I would have a lot of money and own characters and concepts and stuff but I don't so instead I write Flash Fiction.
I heard the cannon go off and automatically was on a red alert. Of course I hoped it was the Career who had bitten the dust but it was most likely one of the younger of the group left. I needed a minute to think.
24 tributes. 8 gone in the blood bath.
3 more on the first day.
5 the second.
and One a day until it was the 5 left today, well now four.
I poke at my meat and it was only half done. I doubted there would be a feast this year but I was comfortable with that. I heard noise among the leaves of the trees and I picked up my bow and arrow, aiming it into the darkness.
The tiny girl from District 4 emerged, covered in blood and holding the knife that the last career had been using to kill everyone off. I wanted to hold her, but was afraid she would flip on me. She dropped the knife and then to her knees, a way of begging for some of my catch today. I lowered my bow and nodded for her to sit next to me and offered water from my canteen to wash off the blood.
She started reacting as if she heard something and threw a rock into the trees, with the boy from District 2 putting down his whip in defeat. He waited for death, but all that came to him was a piece of my kill from the hands of the tiny girl.

I knew the Gamemaker's would have hell for us in the morning, be it mutts or re-arranging the puzzle pieces of the map as they had done to us a few times to leave us lost, confused, cold, crazy, and ready to kill more.
This one night we all left it behind us and shared a meal together. Districts reunited in fear, hurt, and somehow a sense of togetherness. One of us would end up alive, but the fact didn't matter to us right now. All we cared about was our feast and to hell with the Gamemakers for tonight.
