Hermione Granger walked silently down the hall, books in her arms, head down. She paused a moment to straighten her robes- didn't want the boys looking up it- and walked into Professor McGonagall's classroom.

"Sorry I'm late, Professor, I had to have a word with Professor Sprout. I have a note, if you'd like," Hermione said, pulling a small piece of parchment out of one of her books. Professor McGonagall dismissed the note and waved for Hermione to sit down.

"You missed a great deal of class," Ron Weasley whispered to her as she sat down. "McGonagall's just told us there's going to be a dance in two weeks."

"A dance? Really?" Hermione said with great intrest. She wondered about it the rest of class- would anyone ask her? Would she have the guts to ask anyone?

An hour later, in the hallway to Defense Against the Dark Arts, Hermione was still pondering these questions. Suddenly, Hermione bumped into someone in front of her who had come to an abrupt stop. She looked up in surprise, wondering what the hold up was.

"Hermione!" Ron shouted, coming out of the classroom. "There's a new teacher!"

"But- but- what happened to Professor Lupin?" Hermione asked slowly. She had grown close to dear old Professor Lupin. Ron shrugged.

"But the new professor's a woman and she GORGEOUS," Ron said with a grin. Hermione rolled her eyes. Just like Ron to think like that...

"Excuse me," a smooth and silky voice behind Hermione said. She turned to see a beautiful woman with a deep maroon color hair and purple eyes to match. Her robes were not black, but that same purple color. "What is all this commotion?"

"Nothing, Professor, I was just trying-" As Hermione said trying, she shot a glare at Ron. "-to get to class." The new teacher smiled at Hermione.

"At least one person here cares about their studies," the teacher said. "You are-?"

"Hermione Granger," Hermione said.

"Good. I'm Professor Henna. I hope you all heard that because I'm not repeating it again." And with a flourish, she headed into the classroom and beckoned for them to follow.
